GOLDEN SUNS SWEEP LADY MULERIDERS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Katie Huff had a 14-kill performance hitting .370, McCall Wilkins led the team hitting .385 with six kills, while Sierra Nighswonger dished out 36 assists and had three service aces, as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (16-5, 8-1 Great American Conference) swept Southern Arkansas University (8-13, 5-4 GAC) 3-0 on Thursday at Tucker Coliseum.

"This was one of the best matches we have played all year," said Golden Suns head coach Kristy Bayer. "We were focused on both ends of the ball. Our middles did a great job putting the ball away, and as a team we blocked well and although the stats may not show that, we had a great presence at the net."

"Overall, just a great performance from our team."

Tech swept to the win behind set wins of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-18, helping the Golden Suns win their eighth straight match and fifth straight conference match.

Tonight was jersey night where the Golden Suns raised $850 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "We would like to thank Dr. Owen Kelly for the jersey donation, we are very appreciative for this donation for us to put this event on," Bayer said.

Kaci Jackson had a nine-kill performance, and a team-best 14 digs, Emily Todd added ten digs to go along with her eight kills, as the Golden Suns outhit the Lady Muleriders .277 to .116, hitting a match-best .405 in the opening set.

Arkansas Tech returns to action on Tuesday, October 14, facing Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
