Chris Bonta enters into his first season at Arkansas Tech and will serve as the linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.
Bonta comes to Tech with a wealth of prior coaching experience at both the collegiate and high school levels. His most-recent stop was at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa where he was the defensive coordinator for the 2024 season.
The season prior, Bonta was at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana as the program’s linebackers coach and special teams coordinator. Before that, Bonta spent the 2022 season as the senior defensive analyst/assistant linebackers coach at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.
Bonta also served two years (2020 and 2021) at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas as the pass game coordinator/defensive coach. Before that, Bonta was the offensive line coach for the Indoor Football League’s San Diego Strike Force.
His first collegiate coaching experience came in 2019 when he was the defensive coordinator at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill.
Prior to that, Bonta had over a decade of experience at the prep ranks out in California.
Bonta earned his Master’s in Educational Administration in 2016 from National University and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2009 from California State University, San Marcos.
