Brandon Smith

Brandon Smith enters his fourth year at Arkansas Tech as part of coach Kyle Shipp’s staff after joining the football staff in January 2019.

Prior to arriving at Tech, Smith spent the 2018 season coaching linebackers at Southeastern Oklahoma. The 2018 Savage Storm defense ranked sixth nationally in total defense, and linebacker Seu Luafatasaga earned All-Great American Conference honors.

Before his time in Durant, Smith spent five years at East Texas Baptist University, beginning as the director of football operations and earning promotions along the way. He moved from cornerbacks coach in 2013-14 to safeties coach in 2015, and then became defensive coordinator in 2016. He also served as the team’s lead recruiting coordinator from 2013-16.

During his time at ETBU, Smith had the opportunity to serve two summers as a guest coach with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, was a Regional Scout in 2017 for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and twice earned the NFL Bill Walsh Coaching Fellowship, working with the Los Angeles Rams and coach Bill Johnson and also the Dallas Cowboys and coach Joe Baker.

Smith started his collegiate coaching career at West Texas A&M, after spending time as a high school coach.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State in 2010 and his master’s degree from West Texas A&M in 2012.
