The Arkansas Tech volleyball team approaches their home opener to play their first GAC match against the Henderson State Reddies. First-serve will be at 6 p.m.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING

The Golden Suns are currently 5-3 now after finishing the Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State. At that tournament, Tech played Missouri Southern State, William Jewell, Truman State and Pittsburg State. The Golden Suns were able to sweep their first three matches, but fell to Pittsburg State in a 3-1 match.

 

Offensively, the Golden Suns are averaging 12.3 kills/set and have a .231 team attack percentage. They have three players with at least 60 kills and are led by Henley Hooks with 85. Erika Hernandez has the highest attack percentage on the team at .478 (73k-134att-9err).

 

The Golden Suns' leading setter is Kenzie Garrett totaling 168 assists.

 

Defensively, the Golden Suns are averaging 14.8 digs/set and 2.0 blocks per set. Karis Brinlee leads the team in digs with 101. Karlly Dillard currently leads the team in blocks at 23.0.

HENDERSON STATE REDDIES

The Reddies are off to a 3-5 after co-hosting the Reddie-Tiger Challenge with the Ouachita Baptist Tigers. Their opponents were Texas A&M International, University of West Alabama, LeMoyne-Owen College and University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff. The Reddies dropped their first two matches, but swept their last two.

 

Through these first two weekends of play, the Reddies are averaging 11.0 kills/set and have a .157 team attack percentage. The Reddies' Kelis Battles leads the team with 89 kills. Karsen Hart has the highest attack percentage on the team at .330 (43k-91att-13err).
