RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech third-year runner Passion Perez has been named as the latest Great American Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.

This is the first conference weekly award for Perez and is the first for the Golden Suns cross country program since Calli Beshore earned the honor in February 2021 (officially in the 2020 season, but ran in Spring 2021 due to COVID-19).

Perez garnered the award after she finished first overall at the Tiger Invitational this past Saturday. She would post a time of 17:48.87, which was a collegiate personal record and is the fourth-fastest in a 5K in ATU history.

Perez and the Golden Suns will now prepare for the upcoming GAC Women's Cross Country Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Shawnee, Okla. on Saturday, November 7.
