LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech softball team returns home following an eight-game road swing and will host Henderson State for a three-game series this weekend.
 
The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 from the SBU Softball Field
 
The Golden Suns and Bearcats have met nine times prior to their doubleheader on Tuesday. The series began in 2007 and the Golden Suns currently hold a 5-4 lead.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter Tuesday with an overall record of 27-8. They have won 17-straight games and are most-recently coming off a conference series sweep at home against Henderson State this past weekend
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns enter this weekend hitting .277 as a team (263-for-951) with 188 runs scored, 41 doubles, nine triples and 28 home runs.
 
Aubree Jones currently leads the team in batting average at .340 (34-for-100). Aaliyah Dixon has provided the most power production thus far with a .600 slugging percentage thanks to four doubles, four triples and five home runs. Jones paces the team in RBIs with 27 while Anna Winkfield leads the team in runs scored with 31.
 
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 2.48 and have struck out 176 batters in 246.0 innings of work.
 
A total of five pitchers have appeared in the circle for the Golden Suns. Aly White, Ainlsee Moore and Emily Richarde made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Henderson State and figure to see action against Southwest Baptist.
 
White is 10-3 with a 1.75 ERA and has 44 strikeouts in 80.0 innings. Moore is 9-0 with a 2.68 ERA and has 43 strikeouts in 65.1 innings. Richarde is 5-2 with a 2.20 ERA and has 57 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.
 
Leading the Golden Suns is Jordon Jones. In her fourth season as head coach of the Golden Suns, Jones has amassed a 108-81 record at Tech. Prior to coming to Tech, Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 261-157.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHWEST BAPTIST
Southwest Baptist enters the midweek doubleheader with a 15-23 overall record. They are coming off a conference doubleheader split at home against Maryville this past weekend. SBU would win the opening game, 6-5 and then drop the second game, 4-1.
 
Entering play against Tech, the Bearcats are hitting .275 as a team (282-for-1,026) with 165 runs scored, 40 doubles, four triples and 19 home runs.
 
Keeley Elsea currently leads the team in batting average at .481 (51-for-106). Elsea has also provided the biggest power threat thus far for the Bearcats and leads the team with an .774 slugging percentage thanks to 14 doubles, a triple and five home runs. Elsea also leads the team in RBIs with 29 and in runs scored with 32.
 
In the circle, the Bearcats have a team ERA of 4.66 and have struck out 143 batters in 252.1 innings of work.
 
The Bearcats used a weekend rotation of Shalie Wooden and Cambri Van Loo in their weekend doubleheader against Maryville. Those two figure to see action against Tech on Tuesday.
 
Wooden is 8-7 with a 4.79 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 90.2 innings. Van Loo is 1-7 with a 4.63 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 42.1 innings.
 
Leading the Bearcats is Tripp Swisher. He is in his fourth season as head coach at Southwest Baptist and his 10th overall. In his time at SBU, Swisher is 65-121. Overall, he is 178-266.
