LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech softball team returns home following an eight-game road swing and will host Henderson State for a three-game series this weekend.
 
The series is scheduled to open with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 3 and conclude with a single game on Saturday at a time TBD.
 
The Golden Suns and Reddies have met 94 times prior to their series this weekend. The series began in 2003 and has been played annually as conference foes since. Henderson currently holds a 48-46 lead in the series.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter Tuesday with an overall record of 24-8 and are 15-3 in the GAC. They have won 14-straight games and are most-recently coming off a doubleheader sweep on the road at Delta State this past Tuesday.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns enter this weekend hitting .274 as a team (240-for-877) with 172 runs scored, 37 doubles, eight triples and 26 home runs.
 
Aubree Jones currently leads the team in batting average at .315 (29-for-92). Anna Winkfield has provided the most power production thus far with a .552 slugging percentage thanks to four doubles and seven home runs. Winkfield also paces the team in RBIs with 25 and in runs scored with 29.
 
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 2.66 and have struck out 161 batters in 226.0 innings of work.
 
A total of five pitchers have appeared in the circle for the Golden Suns. Aly White and Ainlsee Moore made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Ouachita Baptist and figure to be in the rotation against Henderson.
 
White is 9-3 with a 1.89 ERA and has 42 strikeouts in 74.0 innings. Moore is 8-0 with a 2.74 ERA and has 39 strikeouts in 61.1 innings.
 
Leading the Golden Suns is Jordon Jones. In her fourth season as head coach of the Golden Suns, Jones has amassed a 105-81 record at Tech. Prior to coming to Tech, Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 258-157.
 
SCOUTING HENDERSON STATE
Henderson State enters the weekend 14-20 overall and 7-11 in the GAC. They are coming off a series loss at home against No. 8-ranked Southern Arkansas. In that series, HSU lost the first two games, but avoided the sweep with a 5-3 win in the finale.
 
Entering play against Tech, the Reddies are hitting .286 as a team (250-for-873) with 131 runs scored, 52 doubles, six triples and nine home runs.
 
Hilary Ackers currently leads the team in batting average at .382 (42-for-110). Josie Copeland has provided the biggest power threat thus far for the Reddies and leads the team with an .561 slugging percentage thanks to 14 doubles and two home runs. Copeland also leads the team in RBIs with 20 while Akers leads the team in runs scored with 26.
 
In the circle, the Reddies have a team ERA of 3.54 and have struck out 118 batters in 219.2 innings of work.
 
The Reddies used a weekend rotation of Jersey Cabana, Presley Applegate and Lacey Kelley in their weekend series against Southern Arkansas. Those three figure to be in the rotation against Tech this weekend.
 
Cabana is 6-9 with a 3.27 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 90.1 innings. Applegate is 8-10 with a 2.69 ERA with 66 strikeouts in 106.2 innings. Kelley is 0-1 with a 7.13 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.
 
Leading the Reddies is Joel Worthington. He is in his second season as head coach at Henderson State and his sixth overall. In his time at HSU, Worthington is 44-44. Overall, he is 150-105.
