RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team played their final home match of the season on Friday afternoon against Harding and narrowly lost 4-3.
The Golden Suns jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match by winning the doubles point. Tech would win the first doubles match, 6-2 at No. 2. Harding won at No. 3, 6-2, shortly thereafter, but the Golden Suns then clinched the point at No. 1 doubles with a 6-4 win.
In singles action, Harding won the first two matches at No. 1 and No. 4 to go up 2-1 in the match. A 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 from
Natalya Montoya tied it back up at 2-all.
Nayara Alvarez then came back from a set one loss, winning 6-1 and 6-0.
The Bisons responded with a third set win at No. 6 singles to tie the match at 3-all. They then sealed the match with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for their regular season finale on the road at Southern Arkansas. That match will take place on Tuesday, April 21 at 3 p.m.
