Golden Suns win four singles matches in 4-3 win at SAU in regular season finale

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team ended their 2026 regular season on a high note on Tuesday afternoon as they beat Southern Arkansas 4-3 on the road. All four points for the Golden Suns came in singles play with the decisive victory coming in the third set of court four.

With the win, the Golden Suns secure the No. 4-seed in the upcoming Great American Conference Tournament and will take on No. 5-seed Ouachita Baptist in an opening round match. That match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start time from Memorial Park in Bentonville on Friday, May 1.

In their match against SAU on Tuesday, the Golden Suns found themselves down 1-0 through doubles action as the Muleriders were able to claim the point at No. 1 doubles, 7-6 (4). The Golden Suns quickly leveled the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles from Zayla Ware.

The Golden Suns and Muleriders traded wins to keep the match knotted up with SAU claiming a win at No. 1 while Tech's Nayara Alvarez won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.

A 7-5, 6-3 win for SAU at No. 2 singles put them on the precipice of a team win, but Lucia Perez won at No. 3, 6-2, 7-5 to tie the match again and bring all attention to the No. 4 singles match where freshman Rebecca Arnold was on court.

Arnold had won the first set, 6-2, but dropped the second set by that same score. In the third set, Arnold would bear down and came away with a 7-5 win to clinch the win for the Golden Suns.
