LEADING OFF
After consecutive weekends at home, the Arkansas Tech softball team is back on the road for a three-game conference series at Arkansas-Monticello.
 
The series is scheduled to start with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 and then conclude with a single game starting at Noon on Friday.
 
The Golden Suns and UAM have met 79 times prior to their series this weekend. The series began in 2004 and has been played annually as conference foes since. UAM currently holds a 40-39 lead in the series.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter this weekend with an overall record of 10-8 and are 3-3 in the GAC. They are coming off a three-game sweep at home against No. 10-ranked Southern Arkansas this past weekend.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns enter this weekend hitting .257 as a team (118-for-459) with 81 runs scored, 17 doubles, four triples and 12 home runs.
 
Destiney Madewell currently leads the team in batting average at .378 (14-for-37). Aubree Jones has provided the most power production thus far with a .587 slugging percentage thanks to a double and four home runs. Jones paces the team in RBIs with 15 and in runs scored with 14.
 
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 3.73 and have struck out 93 batters in 122.0 innings of work.
 
A total of five pitchers have appeared in the circle for the Golden Suns. Aly White and Ainslee Moore made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Southern Arkansas and figure to be among the rotation this weekend against Arkansas-Monticello.
 
White is 5-3 with a 1.95 ERA and has 27 strikeouts in 43.0 innings. Moore is 3-0 with a 4.28 ERA and has 30 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
 
Leading the Golden Suns is Jordon Jones. In her fourth season as head coach of the Golden Suns, Jones has amassed an 91-81 record at Tech. Prior to coming to Tech, Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 242-159.
 
SCOUTING ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO
Arkansas-Monticello enters the weekend 8-12 overall and 1-5 in the GAC. They are coming off a series loss on the road at Henderson State this past weekend. UAM would win the opening game, 2-1, but went on to lose games two and three, 7-2 and 2-1, respectively.
 
Entering play against Tech, the Cotton Blossoms are hitting .224 as a team (117-for-522) with 83 runs scored, 25 doubles, no triples and nine home runs.
 
Maddie Moore currently leads the team in batting average at .306 (15-for-59). Zoe Bridges has provided the biggest power threat thus far for the Cotton Blossoms and leads the team with a .611 slugging percentage thanks to a double and two home runs. Mackenzie Martin paces the team in RBIs with 14. Lainey Tippen leads the team in runs scored with 15.
 
In the circle, the Cotton Blossoms have a team ERA of 4.95 and have struck out 75 batters in 134.1 innings of work.
 
The Cotton Blossoms used a weekend rotation of Mackenzie Martin and Kayla Olthouse in their weekend series against Henderson State. Those two figure to be in the weekend rotation against Tech.
 
Martin is 4-4 with a 3.89 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 50.1 innings. Olthouse is 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.
 
Leading the Cotton Blossoms is Kyle Lem. He is in his eighth season as head coach at Arkansas-Monticello. In his time at UAM, Lem is 140-190.
