LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech softball team is set to play its first midweek games of the season on Tuesday as they will travel to Cleveland, Mississippi to take on Delta State in a doubleheader.
 
The twin-bill is slated to start at 2 p.m. from University Field.
 
The Golden Suns and Lady Statesmen have met 32 times prior to their doubleheader on Tuesday. The series began in 2004 and Delta State currently holds a 20-12 lead.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter Tuesday with an overall record of 22-8. They have won 12-straight games and are most-recently coming off a three-game sweep on the road against Ouachita Baptist this past weekend.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns enter this weekend hitting .265 as a team (217-for-820) with 150 runs scored, 34 doubles, eight triples and 21 home runs.
 
Aubree Jones currently leads the team in batting average at .329 (28-for-85). Jones has also provided the most power production thus far with a .506 slugging percentage thanks to a double, a triple and four home runs. Jones also paces the team in RBIs with 21 while Anna Winkfield leads the team in runs scored with 27.
 
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 2.75 and have struck out 158 batters in 214.0 innings of work.
 
A total of five pitchers have appeared in the circle for the Golden Suns. Aly White and Ainlsee Moore made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Ouachita Baptist and figure to see action against Delta State.
 
White is 8-3 with a 1.97 ERA and has 42 strikeouts in 71.0 innings. Moore is 7-0 with a 2.96 ERA and has 38 strikeouts in 54.1 innings.
 
Leading the Golden Suns is Jordon Jones. In her fourth season as head coach of the Golden Suns, Jones has amassed a 103-81 record at Tech. Prior to coming to Tech, Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 256-157.
 
SCOUTING DELTA STATE
Delta State enters the weekend 12-21 overall and are coming off a series loss on the road at Alabama-Huntsville. The Lady Statesmen did salvage a game in the series, winning the finale, 5-3.
 
Entering play against Tech, the Lady Statesmen are hitting .304 as a team (253-for-829) with 156 runs scored, 44 doubles, seven triples and 19 home runs.
 
Kyleigh Wheaton currently leads the team in batting average at .412 (40-for-97). Wheaton has also provided the biggest power threat thus far for the Lady Statesmen and leads the team with an .814 slugging percentage thanks to 10 doubles, one triple and nine home runs. Wheaton also leads the team in RBIs with 35 and in runs scored with 32.
 
In the circle, the Lady Statesmen have a team ERA of 4.44 and have struck out 96 batters in 198.2 innings of work.
 
The Lady Statesmen used a weekend rotation of Maeve Lavoy and Kendal Moore in their weekend series against Alabama-Huntsville. Those two figure to see action against Tech on Tuesday.
 
Lavoy is 6-5 with a 4.53 ERA with 63 strikeouts in 77.1 innings. Moore is 2-7 with a 6.67 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 49.1 innings.
 
Leading the Lady Statesmen is Mark Shirley. He is in his second season as head coach at Delta State. In his time at DSU, Shirley is 24-56.
