TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team played their penultimate non-conference match of the year on the road at Northeastern State on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Suns would go on to lose the match, 6-1.
The point for the Golden Suns in the match came at No. 2 singles where
Lucia Perez was playing up a flight due to an injury at the top of Tech's lineup. Perez would win her match, 6-4, 6-4.
She also was on the winning doubles team for Tech against Northeastern State as her and teammate
Natalya Montoya beat NSU's Lucia Bontempo and Sofia Kotliarova, 6-4. The RiverHawks would win at flights one and three in doubles to take the point and go up 1-0 in the match.
NSU would capture the first four singles matches, securing wins at flights three, six, four and one before Perez's win at No. 2. The final singles match also went in favor of NSU as they won the 10-point tiebreaker, 10-8 at No. 5.
The Golden Suns will now prepare to play their final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday afternoon as they will take the short drive west to Clarksville to take on the University of the Ozarks. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
