LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech softball team is at home this weekend and set to host Southeastern Oklahoma in a three-game series.
 
The series is scheduled to start with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 13 and then conclude with a single game starting at Noon on Saturday.
 
The Golden Suns and Savage Storm have met 58 times prior to their series this weekend. The series began in 2009 and has been played annually as conference foes since 2012. Tech currently holds a 30-28 lead in the series.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter this weekend with an overall record of 13-8 and are 6-3 in the GAC. They are coming off a three-game sweep on the road against Arkansas-Monticello this past weekend.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns enter this weekend hitting .264 as a team (143-for-542) with 97 runs scored, 19 doubles, four triples and 16 home runs.
 
Anna Winkfield currently leads the team in batting average at .333 (20-for-60). Aubree Jones has provided the most power production thus far with a .554 slugging percentage thanks to a double and four home runs. Jones also paces the team in RBIs with 16 and in runs scored with 16.
 
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 3.33 and have struck out 107 batters in 143.0 innings of work.
 
A total of five pitchers have appeared in the circle for the Golden Suns. Aly White and Ainslee Moore made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend against Arkansas-Monticello and figure to be among the rotation this weekend against Arkansas-Monticello.
 
White is 6-3 with a 1.78 ERA and has 32 strikeouts in 51.0 innings. Moore is 4-0 with a 3.90 ERA and has 33 strikeouts in 41.1 innings.
 
Leading the Golden Suns is Jordon Jones. In her fourth season as head coach of the Golden Suns, Jones has amassed a 94-81 record at Tech. Prior to coming to Tech, Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 245-159.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA
Southeastern Oklahoma enters the weekend 12-13 overall and 6-3 in the GAC. They are coming off a series win on the road at Northwestern Oklahoma this past weekend. Southeastern lost the opener, 6-3, but bounced back with a 9-5 win in game two and a 2-1 win in game three.
 
Entering play against Tech, the Savage Storm are hitting .297 as a team (210-for-708) with 117 runs scored, 33 doubles, three triples and 17 home runs.
 
Susan Edwards currently leads the team in batting average at .426 (40-for-94). India McMurray has provided the biggest power threat thus far for the Savage Storm and leads the team with an .811 slugging percentage thanks to nine home runs. Emily Simmons paces the team in RBIs with 21 while Edwards leads the team in runs scored with 21.
 
In the circle, the Savage Storm have a team ERA of 4.37 and have struck out 129 batters in 173.0 innings of work.
 
The Savage Storm used a weekend rotation of Alyson Malone, Trinity Oden and Emily Simmons in their weekend series against Northwestern Oklahoma. Those three figure to be in the weekend rotation against Tech.
 
Malone is 4-2 with a 2.45 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 51.1 innings. Oden is 3-5 with a 4.80 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 46.2 innings. Simmons is 4-4 with a 4.47 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 51.2 innings.
 
Leading the Savage Storm is Mackenzie Sher. She is in her fourth season as head coach at Southeastern Oklahoma and her eighth overall. In her time at Southeastern, Sher is 97-95. Overall, she is 167-186.
