TIPPING OFF
After playing a pair of home games over the weekend, the Arkansas Tech men's basketball team is set to play a third home game in six days as they host Arkansas-Monticello inside Tucker Coliseum on Monday night.
 
This will be the 178th meeting all-time between Tech and Arkansas-Monticello and the second this season. UAM won the initial game this season, 61-54, at home back on December 18. The series began in 1929 and the two have played regularly every year since as conference rivals. Overall, Tech leads the series 114-63.
 
Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 9.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enter Monday night's game at 7-14 overall and 5-10 in the Great American Conference. They have lost four-straight games with the most-recent being a tough 66-64 loss in overtime at home to No. 10-ranked Oklahoma Baptist this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 67.6 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank fifth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 69.0 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are eighth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .436 (491-of-1,125). Their opponents are shooting at a .401 mark (478-of-1,193) to rank second.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .341 (158-of-463) to rank second in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .283 (146-of-515) to rank second. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .736 as a team (279-of-379) to rank sixth.
 
Individually, the Wonder Boys have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by David Elliott IV and his 12.6 ppg. Connor Davis is next in scoring and rounds out double-figure scoring at 11.2 ppg.
 
Devin Foster is leading the team in rebounding and is averaging 5.4 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Elliott IV leads the team and is averaging 3.2 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by Elliott IV at 1.5 steals per game and in blocks by Foster at 1.0 blocks per game.
 
The Wonder Boys are coached by Mark Downey, who is in his sixth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.
 
In his time at Tech, which is now in its 10th season overall, Downey has amassed a 154-125 record. Overall, Downey is in his 19th season as a head coach and has career record of 320-231.
 
SCOUTING THE BOLL WEEVILS
Arkansas-Monticello enters the game 9-12 overall and 5-10 in the GAC. They are coming off a 75-56 loss at home this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Boll Weevils average 64.8 ppg and rank 12th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Boll Weevils rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 65.8 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Boll Weevils are fifth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .448 (487-of-1088) and allow their opponents to post a .417 mark (483-of-1,157) to rank fifth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Boll Weevils shoot at a clip of .334 (127-of-380) to rank fourth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .285 (126-of-442) to rank third. From the free throw line, the Boll Weevils shoot .710 as a team (260-of-366) to rank ninth.
 
Individually, the Boll Weevils have four players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Isaac Jackson and his 15.4 ppg. Ashton Price is next at 14.4 ppg followed by Josh Smith and his 12.3 ppg. Jacob Zenon rounds out double-figure scoring at 11.7 pgg.
 
Smith is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Giancarlo Valdez leads the team and is averaging 3.2 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Boll Weevils are led in steals by Valdez and Jackson at 0.9 steals per game and in blocks by Smith at 0.9 blocks per game.
