LEADING OFF
After playing the first three weekends of the season on the road, the Arkansas Tech softball team is set to make its home debut this weekend against Northwestern Oklahoma. It will also be the Golden Suns' first conference series of the season as well.
 
The series is scheduled to start with a doubleheader on Friday, February 20 starting at 3 p.m. The finale will be played starting at Noon on Saturday.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter this weekend with an overall record of 7-5. This past weekend, they won three of four games at the D2 Branson Battle. In that weekend, they would pick up wins against Quincy, Nebraska-Kearney and Truman State. Their lone loss was against Pittsburg State.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns enter this weekend hitting .266 as a team (85-for-319) with 54 runs scored, 11 doubles, three triples and five home runs.
 
Aubree Jones currently leads the team in batting average at .387 (12-for-31). Jones has also provided the most power production thus far with a .710 slugging percentage thanks to a double and a trio of home runs. Jones also paces the team in RBIs with 10 and in runs scored with 11.
 
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 3.24 and have struck out 63 batters in 82.0 innings of work.
 
A total of five pitchers have appeared in the circle for the Golden Suns. Aly White and Ainslee Moore have made multiple starts this season. White is 4-2 with a 1.77 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 31.2 innings. Moore is 2-0 with a 4.87 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 23.0 innings.
 
Jenny Shank, Emily Richarde and Klaire Womack round out the five-person staff. Richarde is 1-1 with a save and has 1.70 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 12.1 innings. Shank is 0-2 with a save and has a 6.24 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 12.1 innings. Womack is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA with a strikeout in 2.2 innings.
 
Leading the Golden Suns is Jordon Jones. In her fourth season as head coach of the Golden Suns, Jones has amassed an 88-78 record at Tech. Prior to coming to Tech, Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 239-156.
 
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA
Northwestern Oklahoma is 4-8 overall and have lost six-straight games. Last weekend, the Rangers were swept in a four-game series at UT-Permian Basin and most-recently dropped a doubleheader at Cameron this past Wednesday.
 
Entering play against Tech, the Rangers are hitting .195 as a team (60-for-307) with 32 runs scored, seven doubles, three triples and four home runs.
 
Kaylee Madden currently leads the team in batting average at .278 (10-for-34). Kaitlyn Corn has provided the biggest power threat thus far for the Rangers and leads the team with a .483 slugging percentage thanks to a double and two home runs. Corn also paces the team in RBIs with five. She also is tied for the team-lead in runs with Madden and Makanalei Lapera with five.
 
In the circle, the Rangers have a team ERA of 2.84 and have struck out 49 batters in 79.0 innings of work.
 
Katy Jones, Grace Hulsey, Madelyn Cason and Chloe Brown have all started multiple games for Northwestern Oklahoma. Jones is 2-1 with a 2.82 ERA and has 14 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. Hulsey is 1-2 with a 2.80 ERA and has 12 strikeouts in 20.0 innings. Cason is 0-3 with a 2.57 ERA and has 12 strikeouts in 16.1 innings. Brown is 1-1 with a 1.31 ERA and has nine strikeouts in 16.0 inning.
 
Leading the Rangers is Efrain Barraza, who is in his first season as head coach at Northwestern Oklahoma. In his time at NWOSU, Barazza is 4-8.
