SEARCY, Ark. – The No. 25-ranked Arkansas Tech women's basketball team was held to season-lows in points and field goal percentage in their showdown at No. 11-ranked Harding on Thursday night, falling by a score of 72-50.
It was the just the fifth time this season that the Golden Suns have been held under 70 points offensively as they entered the game leading the conference at 81.9 ppg. They were also held under 30% shooting overall for the first time this season as they shot 28.1% from the field at Harding (16-of-57).
Harding would not trail in the game and raced out to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter. They would increase the advantage in the second quarter and took a 20-point lead into the locker room.
The Golden Suns bounced back some in the third quarter and out-scored the Lady Bisons by nine to make it an 11-point game heading into the fourth quarter. Harding would maintain a double-digit lead throughout the fourth quarter and pushed their lead out as high as 25 points before ending with a 22-point margin.
In being held to just 50 points, the Golden Suns did not have a player reach double digits, but
Logan Young and
Hayleigh Wyrick scored nine points each to lead the team.
The Golden Suns will now look to bounce back on Saturday as they will be on the road at Ouachita Baptist. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
