Golden Suns tripped up at East Central

ADA, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss on the road at East Central on Friday night.

In the match, the Golden Suns' offense was held to an attack percentage of .094 across the four sets due in part to the Tigers having 10 blocks. On the other side of the net, East Central posted an attack percentage of .235 and totaled 13 more kills than Tech.

ECU's success started from the outset at the Tigers jumped out to an 8-1 lead and later a 16-5 advantage in the first set. The Golden Suns found their footing some in the set and got as close as 20-13 before ECU closed out the set, 25-16.

The second set saw another early surge by ECU that put the Tigers out in front 10-4 and later, 18-7. The lead swelled to 21-9 before the Golden Suns scored five of the next six points to make it 22-14. ECU would go on to win the second set, 25-17.

The Golden Suns avoided the sweep by jumping out to a quick start of their own in the third set. Tech would score the first five points and remained out in front until the Tigers tied the set at 19-all. The Golden Suns broke the tie and scored three more points to go up by four, 23-19.

ECU made things interesting by scoring the next three, but alternating points gave the Golden Suns the win in the third set, 25-23.

Set four played out similar to the first two but ended up being the Tigers' most prolific and proficient offense of the match as they had 17 kills against just three errors for a percentage of .389.

The Golden Suns will now prepare for their next match on Friday, October 23 at Henderson State. First-serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia.
