TIPPING OFF
After making their first two-game Oklahoma road swing of the season last weekend, the Arkansas Tech women's basketball team is set to be at home each of the next two weekends, starting first with a Thursday game against East Central and then a Saturday contest with Southeastern Oklahoma.
 
This will be the 39th meeting all-time between Tech and East Central. The series began in 1986 but has been played in earnest as conference rivals since 2012. The Golden Suns currently hold a 26-12 record in the series.
 
Against Southeastern Oklahoma, this will be the 34th meeting all-time between Tech and SE. The series began in 1980 but has been played in earnest as conference rivals since 2012. The Golden Suns currently hold an 18-16 record in the series.
 
Tip-off for the East Central game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 15 while the East Central game will have a 1 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, January 17.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the GAC. They are coming off a 63-55 win on the road at Southern Nazarene this past Saturday. Overall, the Golden Suns have won four-straight and six of their last seven games.
 
Statistically, the Golden Suns average 83.6 ppg to rank first in the GAC and are allowing 69.3 ppg to rank 11th. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are shooting at an overall clip of .449 (356-of-792) to rank first in the GAC and are allowing their opponents to shoot at a .415 mark (291-of-701) to rank 11th.
 
From beyond the arch, the Golden Suns are shooting .297 (82-of-276) to rank ninth and are allowing their opponents to make three-pointers at a .360 clip (81-of-225) to rank 12th. At the charity stripe, the Golden Suns are shooting .744 (209-of-281) to rank seventh.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns have two players scoring in double figures. Logan Young leads the way at 16.4 ppg followed by AbbiGrace Cunningham at 12.2 ppg. Three other players are averaging at least 8.5 ppg.
 
Dessie Lancaster leads the team in rebound average at 6.5 rpg. In terms of assists, Shalyn Lyle leads the team at 3.2 apg.
 
Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by Young at 1.8 spg. Young also leads the team in blocks at 1.3 bpg.
 
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 19th season as Tech. During his time at Tech, Wilbers has amassed a 373-155 overall record. Nine times, Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
East Central is 7-5 overall and are 3-5 in the GAC. They have won two-straight games with both games coming last weekend at home. Their most-recent game was a 61-56 win against Southern Arkansas this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Tigers average 61.5 ppg and rank 10th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Tigers rank second in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 59.8 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Tigers are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .390 (255-of-645) and are allowing their opponents a .387 mark (254-of-657) to rank sixth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Tigers shoot at a clip of .303 (57-of-188) to rank eighth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .322 (64-of-199) to rank ninth. From the free throw line, the Tigers shoot .707 as a team (171-of-242) to rank ninth.
 
Individually, the Tigers have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Rylie Burnett and her 10.9 ppg. Katie Edelen is next and rounds out double-figure scoring at 10.6 ppg.

Southeastern Oklahoma is 5-9 overall and 2-6 in the GAC. The Savage Storm will have played a game on the road against Harding on Thursday prior to playing at Tech on Saturday. The Savage Storm have won two-straight games with both coming last weekend at home.
 
Statistically, the Savage Storm average 68.9 ppg and rank sixth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Savage Storm rank 10th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 68.4 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Savage Storm are sixth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .406 (341-of-840) and are allowing their opponents a .376 mark (317-of-842) to rank third.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Savage Storm shoot at a clip of .321 (113-of-352) to rank sixth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .302 (97-of-321) to rank sixth. From the free throw line, the Savage Storm shoot .762 as a team (170-of-223) to rank sixth.
