FIRST PITCH
The Arkansas Tech softball team remains at home this weekend and will take on Ouachita Baptist in a three-game series.
The series is slated to begin with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The series will conclude on Friday at Noon
The Golden Suns and Tigers have met 79 times historically in a series that started in 2003. In terms of the all-time series record, Tech holds a 56-23 lead over Ouachita Baptist.
The two teams met three times last season with all three games being played in a weekend series at Ouachita. The Golden Suns would win the series with wins in each of the first two games. Ouachita salvaged the final game.
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter the weekend series at home against Ouachita Baptist with an overall record of 19-15 and a 9-8 mark in conference play. They are coming off weekend sweep of East Central. In two of those games, the Golden Suns won in their final at-bat of the game.
Entering play, the Golden Suns are hitting .283 as a team (252-for-891) with 164 runs scored, 57 doubles, eight triples and nine home runs.
Maycie Hardy currently leads the team in batting average at .333 (35-for-105).
Hardy also has the highest slugging percentage on the team at .476 thanks to nine doubles and two home runs. She is one of six players that have double-digit RBIs and one of six with double-digit runs scored. Her 26 runs lead the team while
Caroline Wilhelm currently paces the team in RBIs with 27.
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 3.16 and have struck out 197 batters in 224.0 innings of work.
Bradi Basler,
Alexis Findley and
Aly White have appeared in at least 14 games and made at least one start.
Findley has the most starts with 17, followed by
Basler with 11 and
White with four.
Aidan Dayberry has also made two starts and has five other appearances in relief.
Ainslee Moore has made two relief appearances for Tech as part of their five-person pitching staff.
Findley is currently 8-6 and has posted a 2.62 ERA and struck out 100 in 96.1 innings of work.
Basler is 5-5 with a 4.95 ERA and has 47 strikeouts in 46.2 innings.
White is 5-2 with a 2.40 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 61.1 innings.
Leading the Golden Suns is
Jordon Jones. In her third season as head coach of the Golden Suns,
Jones has amassed a 73-57 record at Tech and twice led the team to the conference tournament. Prior to coming to Tech,
Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 227-136.
SCOUTING OUACHITA BAPTIST
Ouachita Baptist is 12-21 overall and 5-12 in GAC play. The Tigers are coming off a split in the mid-week doubleheader at Christian Brothers this past Tuesday. Over their last weekend, Ouachita was swept in their weekend series on the road at Oklahoma Baptist.
Entering play against Tech, the Tigers are hitting .270 as a team (224-for-831) with 112 runs scored, 44 doubles, three triples and 14 home runs.
Emily Reed currently leads the team in batting average at .379 (33-for-87).
Reed is also pacing the club in slugging percentage at .713 thanks to eight doubles and seven home runs. Additionally,
Reed is the team-leader in RBIs with 29 and is one of two with double-digit runs driven in. Furthermore,
Reed is tied for the team-lead in runs scored with 19 and is one of four players with double-digit runs scored.
In the circle, the Tigers have a team ERA of 4.89 and have struck out 106 batters in 209.0 innings of work.
The Tigers have used four pitchers in starting roles but have relied mostly on
Catie Amador and
Karley Burrow.
Amador has made 16 starts while
Burrow has made eight.
Amador is 7-10 with a 3.70 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 89.1 innings.
Burrow is 1-6 with a 6.08 ERA and five strikeouts in 25.1 innings.
Leading the Tigers is
Jeff Jackson, who is in his second season as head coach at Ouachita Baptist. In his time at Ouachita,
Jackson is 27-58.
