FIRST PITCH
The Arkansas Tech softball team will step away from Great American Conference play on Tuesday and will play on the road at Northeastern State.
 
The mid-week doubleheader is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
 
The Golden Suns and RiverHawks have met 31 times historically in a series that started in 2004. In terms of the all-time series record, Tech holds a 18-13 lead over Northeastern State.
 
The two teams met earlier this season and played a doubleheader at Tech back in mid-February. Tech would win both games and did not allow a run in either contest.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter the doubleheader on the road at Northeastern State with an overall record of 14-15. They are coming off a series win this past weekend at Southeastern Oklahoma.
 
Entering play, the Golden Suns are hitting .273 as a team (205-for-751) with 134 runs scored, 45 doubles, six triples and eight home runs.
 
Savannah Snow currently leads the team in batting average at .321 (26-for-81). Anna Winkfield has the highest slugging percentage on the team at .474 thanks to five doubles, two triples and a home run. Winkfield is one of six players that have double-digit RBIs. Caroline Wilhelm currently paces the team in that category with 23. Sadie Turner and Maycie Hardy are tied for the most home runs on the team at two. Hardy also leads the team in runs scored with 22.
 
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 3.39 and have struck out 168 batters in 188.0 innings of work.
 
Bradi Basler, Alexis Findley and Aly White have appeared in at least 12 games and made at least one start. Findley has the most starts with 15, followed by Basler with 10 and White with three. Aidan Dayberry has also made one start, but has had five other appearances in relief. Ainslee Moore has made two relief appearances for Tech as part of their five-person pitching staff.
 
Findley is currently 7-6 and has posted a 2.73 ERA and struck out 83 in 82.0 innings of work. Basler is 4-5 with a 4.80 ERA and has 42 strikeouts in 42.1 innings. White is 3-2 with a 3.00 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 49.0 innings.
 
Leading the Golden Suns is Jordon Jones. In her third season as head coach of the Golden Suns, Jones has amassed a 68-57 record at Tech and twice led the team to the conference tournament. Prior to coming to Tech, Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 222-136.
 
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN STATE
Northeastern State is 9-17 overall and are riding a three-game winning streak. This past weekend, the RiverHawks split their Friday doubleheader against Missouri Western and then swept their doubleheader against Northwest Missouri on Saturday.
 
Entering play against Tech, the RiverHawks are hitting .280 as a team (183-for-654) with 118 runs scored, 38 doubles, four triples and 11 home runs.
 
Madison Heinle currently leads the team in batting average at .368 (25-for-68) and is pacing the club in slugging percentage at .588 thanks to four doubles, one triple and three home runs. Heinle is also second on the team in RBIs with 15. Maddie Messenger leads the team in RBIs (17) and home runs (4). Korynn Tindel lead the team in runs scored with 15 and is one of six players with double-digit runs scored.
 
In the circle, the RiverHawks have a team ERA of 5.36 and have struck out 83 batters in 156.2 innings of work.
 
Three pitchers have started at least five games for the RiverHawks among their seven-person pitching staff.
 
Gracie Turner has made the most starts thus far with 11, while Madison Hienle is next with seven. Braedyn Sheofee is the other prominent starter for Northeastern State with five starts.
 
Turner is 4-2 with a 3.50 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 58.0 innings. Hienle is 3-7 with a 5.10 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 48.0 innings. Sheofee is 1-3 with two saves and a 7.16 ERA and nine strikeouts in 29.1 innings.
 
Leading the RiverHawks is Rachel Rhode, who is in her second season as head coach at Northeastern State. In her time at NSU, Rhode is 19-52.
