ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team played a mid-week non-conference match on the road at Henderson State on Tuesday afternoon and lost to HSU 7-0.
Henderson picked up the doubles point with consecutive wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles after the Golden Suns had won at No. 3 doubles. That flight saw the pairing of
Meaghan Butler and
Nabilah Dunn beat Henderson's Angela Georgieva and Lily Winter, 6-3.
In singles play, HSU was able to clinch the match with straight sets wins at flights three, one and four.
Playing out the match, the final three singles matches were the closest played.
Meaghan Butler lost her No. 5 match, 6-7(4), 3-6. Dunn and
Elis Gergel then lost their respective singles matches in the third set. Dunn lost at No. 6, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 while Gergel lost at No. 2, 6-3, 4-6, 0-6.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for a home match against Northeastern State on Thursday afternoon. The match is slated to start at Noon out at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
