FIRST PITCH
The Arkansas Tech softball team will play the first two games of their regular season series against No. 16-ranked Harding on Tuesday evening on the road.
The overall three-game series is slated to begin with a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. The split series will then conclude with a single game at Tech on Tuesday, April 8 starting at 5 p.m.
The Golden Suns and Lady Bisons have met 38 times historically in a series that started in 2014. In terms of the all-time series record, Tech holds a 20-18 lead over Harding.
The two teams met three times last season with the first two games of the series being played at Tech and the third at Harding. The Lady Bisons would sweep the conference series.
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter the doubleheader on the road at Harding with an overall record of 12-12 overall and a 4-5 mark in conference play. They are coming off a series win at home against UAM last weekend. The Golden Suns would win the first two games of the series before dropping the finale.
Entering play on Tuesday, the Golden Suns are hitting .276 as a team (171-for-620) with 119 runs scored, 37 doubles, three triples and six home runs.
Savannah Snow currently leads the team in batting average at .347 (25-for-72).
Kacie Gibbins has the highest slugging percentage on the team at .437 thanks to six doubles and a home run.
Gibbins is also second in RBIs to
Caroline Wilhelm with 16. Wilhelm's 17 paces the team in that category.
Anna Winkfield and
Lexi Gorniak are the other Golden Suns with double-digit RBIs with 13 and 11, respectively.
Gibbins is tied for the most extra-base hits on the team with
Maycie Hardy at seven. Both have six doubles and a home run.
Hardy also leads the team in runs scored with 21.
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 3.61 and have struck out 155 batters in 155.1 innings of work.
Bradi Basler,
Alexis Findley and
Aly White have appeared in at least 10 games and made at least one start.
Findley has the most starts with 13, followed by
Basler with nine and
White with one.
Aidan Dayberry has also made one start, but had five other appearances in relief.
Ainslee Moore has made two relief appearances for Tech as part of their five-person pitching staff.
Findley is currently 6-5 and has posted a 2.74 ERA and struck out 79 in 69.0 innings of work.
Basler is 4-4 with a 5.50 ERA and has 36 strikeouts in 35.2 innings.
White is 2-1 with a 3.11 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 36.0 innings.
Leading the Golden Suns is
Jordon Jones. In her third season as head coach of the Golden Suns,
Jones has amassed a 66-54 record at Tech and twice led the team to the conference tournament. Prior to coming to Tech,
Jones had head coaching stops at the NAIA level at Central Baptist in Conway and MidAmerica Nazarene in Kansas. Overall, her career record is 220-133.
SCOUTING HARDING
Harding is 20-3 overall and are 8-1 in GAC play. The Lady Bisons are currently ranked No. 16 in the latest NFCA Division II Top-25 rankings. This past weekend, Harding swept their series on the road against Henderson State to push their winning streak to six games.
Entering play against Tech, the Lady Bisons are hitting .352 as a team (222-for-630) with 157 runs scored, 36 doubles, three triples and 17 home runs.
Zoey Neal currently leads the team in batting average at .521 (37-for-51) and is pacing the club in slugging percentage at .831 thanks to seven doubles and five home runs.
Neal also leads the team in RBIs with 37.
Macy Ham leads the team in runs scored with 29.
In the circle, the Lady Bisons have a team ERA of 2.23 and have struck out 144 batters in 147.1 innings of work.
Three pitchers have started a game for the Lady Bisons with all three of those making at least seven starts.
Riley Price and
Brooklyn Gobble are tied for the most starts thus far with eight, while
Avery Booker is right behind with seven.
Price is 6-2 with two saves and a 1.90 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 48.0 innings.
Gobble is 7-1 with two saves and a 3.09 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 43.0 innings.
Booker is 7-0 with a save and a 1.93 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 54.1 innings.
Leading the Lady Bisons is
Ashley Reeves, who is in her fourth season as head coach at Harding and her sixth overall. In her time at Harding,
Reeves is 138-53 and is 169-87 overall.
