TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team is set to hit the road for the final time in 2024-25 season this coming Thursday and will do by going to Arkadelphia to take on Henderson State.
 
This will be the 101st meeting all-time between Tech and Henderson State. In a series that dates back to 1977, the Golden Suns and Reddies have played one another at least twice in a season throughout the series as conference rivals. The Golden Suns currently hold a 76-24 record in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 6-18 overall and 4-16 in GAC play. They are coming off a 64-44 loss at home against East Central this past Sunday.
 
This season, the Golden Suns average 60.6 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Golden Suns rank 11th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 67.4 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are 10th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .387 (533-of-1,376) and are allowing their opponents to shoot at a .390 mark (583-of-1,494) to rank fourth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Golden Suns shoot at a clip of .267 (108-of-405) to rank 12th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .318 (172-of-541) to rank fifth. From the free throw line, the Golden Suns shoot .661 as a team (281-of-425) to rank 11th.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns have no players averaging double figures but have four that average at least 9.0 ppg. AbbiGrace Cunningham leads the way at 9.8 ppg.
 
Julie Wagner leads the team in rebounds with 7.5 rpg. In terms of assists, Andie Zylak leads the team with 3.2 apg.
 
Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by Zylak at 1.6 spg and in blocks by Wagner at 0.9 bpg.
 
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 18th season as Tech. During his time at Tech, Wilbers has amassed a 362-152 overall record. Nine times, Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
 
SCOUTING THE REDDIES
Henderson State is 9-17 overall and are 7-13 in conference play. The Reddies have lost their last six games and are currently tied with Southern Arkansas for eighth-place in the conference standings, which would yield the final spot in the upcoming conference tournament.
 
Statistically, the Reddies average 63.0 ppg and rank eighth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Reddies rank 12th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 70.2 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Reddies are 12th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .358 (562-of-1,572) and are allowing their opponents a .414 mark (640-of-1,547) to rank 12th.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Reddies shoot at a clip of .320 (194-of-607) to rank seventh in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .309 (123-of-398) to rank fourth. From the free throw line, the Reddies shoot .711 as a team (320-of-450) to rank eighth.
 
Individually, the Reddies have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Natalie Cardenas at 14.7 ppg. Brynlee Huggins is next and rounds out double figure scoring at 14.4 ppg.
 
Makenna Winans is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Sam Basson leads the team and is averaging 2.5 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Reddies are led in steals by Basson and Klowie Pike at 1.0 steals per game and in blocks by Bobbi Bazzle at 0.7 blocks per game.
 
The Reddies are coached by Jill Thomas, who is in her 12th season at Henderson State and her 16th overall. At HSU, Thomas is 176-154 and is 241-202 overall.
