RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team lost at home on Sunday afternoon against East Central, 64-44.
For the most part, East Central controlled action in the game and after taking a lead at the 7:12 mark, the Tigers would only go on to build upon their lead. The advantage reached double digits with just under two minutes to go in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Golden Suns got as close as three points of the ECU lead with 5:49 left on the clock, but 6-0 run by Tigers put them back in control.
ECU would build their lead out large as 15 points in third quarter. In the fourth, the Tigers maintained a double-digit lead and were able to push their lead out as high as 20 points before the final horn.
Eight Golden Suns scored in the game, but none would reach double figures.
Julie Wagner was the leading scorer with nine points. She added eight rebounds.
Dessie McCarty and
Hayleigh Wyrick added eight points to be the second-leading scorers.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for their final road game of the season this coming Thursday night. They will be on the road at Henderson State. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
