TIPPING OFF
For the first time in over a decade, the Arkansas Tech and Delta State women's basketball teams will play one another inside the famed Tucker Coliseum as they two are scheduled to meet for a pre-thanksgiving non-conference clash on Tuesday afternoon.

This will be the second-straight year that the Golden Suns and Delta State will have played, reigniting a rivalry that played annually from 1996-2011 while both were members of the Gulf South Conference. Since their conference split, Tech and DSU have only played three times. Overall, the series is led by Delta State, 28-22.

Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside Tucker Coliseum on the campus of Arkansas Tech.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are off to an early 3-0 start to their season and are coming off a hard-fought 75-69 come-from-behind win on the road at Arkansas-Fort Smith last Wednesday.

With three games to their credit, the Golden Suns average 98.3 ppg to rank first in the GAC and are allowing 63.5 ppg to rank seventh. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are shooting at an overall clip of .470 (108-of-230) to rank first in the GAC and are allowing their opponents to shoot at a .406 mark (67-of-165) to rank ninth.

From beyond the arch, the Golden Suns are shooting .380 (38-of-100) to rank third and are allowing their opponents to make three-pointers at a .381 clip (24-of-63) to rank 10th. At the charity stripe, the Golden Suns are shooting .732 (41-of-56) to rank seventh.

Individually, the Golden Suns have five players scoring in double figures.
AbbiGrace Cunningham leads the way at 13.0 ppg.
Shalyn Lyle and
Madelyn Atkins are next at 12.7 ppg.
Logan Young and
Dessie Lancaster round out double-figure scoring at 10.7 and 10.0 ppg, respectively.

Lancaster lead the team in rebound average at 5.0 rpg. In terms of assists,
Jadah Pickens leads the team at 3.0 apg.

Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by
Logan Young at 2.3 spg.
Young also leads the team in blocks at 1.0 bpg.

The Golden Suns are coached by
Dave Wilbers, who is in his 19th season as Tech. During his time at Tech,
Wilbers has amassed a 366-153 overall record. Nine times,
Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a
Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

SCOUTING THE LADY STATESMEN
Delta State is out to a 2-1 start to their season and have won each of their last two games. Both of those games were played at home against Great American Conference foes in Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello. Delta State beat SAU 56-52 this past Tuesday and followed up with a 61-57 win against UAM.

Statistically though three games played, the Lady Statesmen average 59.3 ppg and rank ninth in the Gulf South Conference (GSC). On the defensive end of the court, the Lady Statesmen rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 59.3 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Lady Statesmen are 10th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .345 (60-of-174) and are allowing their opponents a .400 mark (62-of-155) to rank sixth.

From beyond-the-arc, the Lady Statesmen shoot at a clip of .370 (27-of-73) to rank second in the GSC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .311 (14-of-45) to rank ninth. From the free throw line, the Lady Statesmen shoot .508 as a team (31-of-61) to rank 12th.
