The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team is back in action on Monday evening and will take on Champion Christian, a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) member out of Hot Springs. Â

The Golden Suns have won each of the previous five meetings by a combined margin of 175 points and have averaged 90.5 ppg in the process.

Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside Tucker Coliseum.

The Golden Suns are off to a 1-0 start to their season as they were impressive in their season-opener at home against Texas A&M-International this past Friday. In that game, the Golden Suns went over the century-mark in points for the first time since 2021.

In that game, the Golden Suns shot 50.0% overall from the field (37-of-74), were 15-of-35 (42.9%) from three-point range and 13-of-17 (76.5%) from the free throw line.

Individually, the Golden Suns had three players score in double figures against Texas A&M-International.
Shalyn Lyle led the way with 19 points.
Madelyn Atkins was next with 16 while
Jaiden Smith rounded it out with 12 points.

Logan Young led the team in rebounds in the opener with seven. In terms of assists,
Hayleigh Wyrick and
Jadah Picken led the team with five each.

Defensively, the Golden Suns were led in steals by
Lyle and
Smith as both had three steals.
Young had three blocks.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Champion Christian ended their 2024-25 season 19-5 overall and were 15-4 in the NCCAA Southwest Region. This season, the Tigers are off to a 3-1 start in their countable games. In all, the game against Tech will be Champion Christian's fifth game of the season as they played an exhibition game at Ouachita Baptist on November 14.

In that game, the Tigers lost to Ouachita, 91-49.

The Tigers are coached by
DeAnthony Ellison, who is in his seventh season at Champion Christian. In his time as a head coach there, Ellison has a 124-34 record in countable games.
