SEARCY, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech volleyball team jumped out to quick start on the road at Harding on Thursday night with a convincing set-one win, but ultimately lost the match in four sets.
In that opening set, the Golden Suns put down 13 kills while limiting the Lady Bisons to just eight. Tech would get out to an early lead, but Harding managed to take a pair of one-point leads at 7-6 and at 8-7. The Golden Suns would establish control of that set after that and scored six of the next seven points to take a 13-9 lead.
After Harding scored to pull back within three points, the Golden Suns went on another run, scoring five of the next points, giving them a sizable seven-point lead, 18-11. The Golden Suns would be able to close out the set, 25-18.
Set two started out close, but a 7-0 run by Harding broke a five-all tie and gave the Lady Bisons momentum. Tech did battle back and got within five points of the lead twice, but Harding closed out the set on an 8-0 run.
The Bisons would go on to win the next two sets to win the match and did so in a similar fashion as the second set with a handful of sizable runs.
No Golden Sun was able to reach double digits in kills, but five had at least five kills.
Savannah Meyer led the way with eight kills.
Erika Hernandez was next with seven. Meyer would record 10 digs and was two back of
Samantha Wojtowicz, who led with 12.
