TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team returns home for their first game in Tucker Coliseum in the new calendar year. In their home return, the Golden Suns will be taking on Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday afternoon.
 
This will be the 21st meeting all-time between Tech and Oklahoma Baptist. The series began in 1984 but has been played in earnest as conference rivals since 2015. The Golden Suns currently hold a 14-6 record in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 3-7 overall and 1-5 in GAC play. Tech has dropped its last four games with the most-recent coming on the road at Ouachita Baptist this past Saturday.
 
This season, the Golden Suns average 68.0 ppg and rank sixth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Golden Suns rank 12th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 71.1 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are fourth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .411 (255-of-621) and are allowing their opponents to shoot at a .387 mark (252-of-651) to rank sixth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Golden Suns shoot at a clip of .281 (48-of-171) to rank 10th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .326 (71-of-218) to rank ninth. From the free throw line, the Golden Suns shoot .635 as a team (122-of-192) to rank 10th.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns have one player averaging double figures and are led by Julie Wagner at 10.6 ppg. Hayleigh Wyrick and Olivia Jones are just outside double-figure scoring at 9.9 ppg each.
 
Wagner also leads the team in rebounds with 7.4 rpg. In terms of assists, Andie Zylak leads the team with 3.6 apg.
 
Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by Zylak at 1.7 spg and in blocks by Wagner at 1.2 bpg.
 
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 18th season as Tech. During his time at Tech, Wilbers has amassed a 359-140 overall record. Nine times, Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

SCOUTING THE BISON
Oklahoma Baptist is 9-3 overall and are 5-1 in conference play. The Bison are coming off a win their last time out, beating Northwestern Oklahoma, 83-70, at home this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Bison average 68.8 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Bison rank fifth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 60.4 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Bison are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .389 (281-of-722) and are allowing their opponents a .387 mark (258-of-667) to rank fourth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Bison shoot at a clip of .321 (114-of-355) to rank fifth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .280 (63-of-225) to rank second. From the free throw line, the Bison shoot .837 as a team (149-of-178) to rank second.
 
Individually, the Bison have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Mackenzie Crusoe at 17.0 ppg. Jaedyn Getman is next and rounds out double-figure scoring at 11.3 ppg.
 
Sierra Copeland is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Crusoe leads the team and is averaging 3.4 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Bison are led in steals by Crusoe at 2.1 steals per game and in blocks by Copeland at 1.3 blocks per game.
 
The Bison are coached by Bo Overton, who is in his fifth season at Oklahoma Baptist and his eighth overall. At Oklahoma Baptist, Overton is 56-64 and is 78-11 overall.
