The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team begins a four-game road stint on Thursday night at East Central.
 
This will be the 37th meeting all-time between Tech and East Central. The series began in 1986 but has been played in earnest as conference rivals since 2012. The Golden Suns currently hold a 26-10 record in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 3-9 overall and 1-7 in GAC play. Tech has dropped its last six games with the most-recent coming at home against Southern Nazarene this past Saturday.
 
This season, the Golden Suns average 66.1 ppg and rank eighth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Golden Suns rank 12th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 70.3 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are sixth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .396 (291-of-734) and are allowing their opponents to shoot at a .389 mark (303-of-778) to rank seventh.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Golden Suns shoot at a clip of .282 (58-of-206) to rank 12th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .332 (88-of-265) to rank eighth. From the free throw line, the Golden Suns shoot .643 as a team (153-of-238) to rank 11th.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns have one player averaging double figures and are led by Julie Wagner at 10.3 ppg. Olivia Jones, AbbiGrace Cunningham and Hayleigh Wyrick are just outside double-figure scoring at 9.9 ppg and 9.8 ppg, respectively.
 
Wagner also leads the team in rebounds with 8.3 rpg. In terms of assists, Andie Zylak leads the team with 3.7 apg.
 
Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by Zylak at 1.8 spg and in blocks by Wagner at 1.1 bpg.
 
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 18th season as Tech. During his time at Tech, Wilbers has amassed a 359-143 overall record. Nine times, Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
East Central is 4-8 overall and are 2-6 in conference play. The Tigers have dropped its last six games with the most-recent coming on the road at Southern Arkansas this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Tigers average 57.6 ppg and rank 12th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Tigers rank second in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 62.0 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Tigers are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .390 (258-of-661) and are allowing their opponents a .416 mark (261-of-628) to rank 11th.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Tigers shoot at a clip of .322 (66-of-205) to rank eighth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .356 (94-of-264) to rank 12th. From the free throw line, the Tigers shoot .657 as a team (109-of-166) to rank 10th.
 
Individually, the Tigers have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Katie Edelen at 15.0 ppg. Claira Dannefer is next and rounds out double figures with 10.4 ppg.
 
Dannefer is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.0 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Eva Fernandez leads the team and is averaging 3.3 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Tigers are led in steals by Fernandez at 1.6 steals per game and in blocks by Eleden and Chloe Malone at 0.5 blocks per game.
 
The Tigers are coached by Heather Hurt, who is in her third season at East Central. At ECU, Hurt is 22-36.
