RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team is back at home for their final two regular season matches and set to play their penultimate home match against Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon out at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
The Golden Suns enter their match at home against Southeastern Oklahoma 6-9 overall and 1-3 in GAC play. Most-recently, the Golden Suns lost at home against Southeastern Oklahoma, 4-0. Currently fifth in the conference standings, a win for the Golden Suns over Harding will secure them the No. 4-seed in the upcoming GAC Tournament.
Friday's match will be the final home match for the seniors on this year's team. A special Senior Day ceremony will be held for
Madalena Amil and
Sofia Beggiatto at the conclusion of the match.
Harding enters the match with Tech with an overall record of 13-7 and a 2-2 mark in GAC play.
The Lady Bisons are currently on a two-match winning streak with matching 6-1 wins over Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State this past weekend. At 2-2 in league play, the Lady Bisons are currently in fourth-place in the standings are playing to move up to the No. 3-seed in the upcoming GAC Championship Tournament with a win over Tech. A loss, however, and Harding will drop to the No. 5-seed.
This will be the 54th match all-time between Tech and Harding in a series that dates back to 1993. Harding currently leads the series, 41-12, over Tech.
First-serve against the Lady Bisons is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
