RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team lost on their home courts on Saturday afternoon to league-leading Southeastern Oklahoma, 4-0.
Despite the loss, the Golden Suns were competitive throughout the match. In doubles play, the Golden Suns fell in flights one and three by scores of 6-3. Flight two was left unfinished with Southeastern leading that match, 6-5.
In singles, Southeastern picked up their first win at flight two doubles, winning 6-3, 6-4. They would then win at flight four as
Sofia Beggiatto was narrowly beat in the second set tie breaker as she was looking to split the sets with her opponent.
Now up 3-0 in the match, the Savage Storm clinched the match at flight five. That match saw
Maria Krite win the first set, 6-3, but her Southeastern opponent came back to win the next two sets, 6-3, 6-2.
With the match being played to clinch the final three singles matches were left unfinished. In each of the unfinished matches, the Golden Suns were in the midst of their third sets.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for their final home match of the season this coming Friday afternoon against Harding. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
