RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team won its third-straight match on Friday as they swept visiting Louisiana Christian, 7-0.
In the sweep, the Golden Suns started things off with the doubles point. The flight two pairing of
Sofia Beggiatto and
Elis Gergel got the first win, 6-2. Tech's flight three team of
Madalena Amil and
Meaghan Butler clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win of their own. At the top-flight,
Monica Balau and
Melanie Griffiths came from behind and won their match 6-4.
In singles action,
Kristyna Dvorakova secured the first win with a 6-0, 7-5 triumph at flight six. Gergel was not far behind at flight two with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Maria Krite then clinched the match for the Golden Suns with a 6-1, 6-0 win at flight five.
The Golden Suns would win the next three singles matches to complete the sweep. At flight four, Beggiatto won 6-2, 6-0 while Balau won her top-flight match 6-3, 6-3. Amil was the last singles match on court and won 6-4, 7-6 (7).
The Golden Suns have now finished non-conference action and will open up Great American Conference play on Saturday afternoon at home against Ouachita Baptist. First-serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
