TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team secured their spot in the upcoming Great American Conference Tournament on Thursday night with a thrilling one-point win over Henderson State. Now, the Golden Suns will be looking to keep themselves in the middle of the standings heading into the tournament with their final game of the regular season coming this Saturday at Southern Arkansas.

This will be the 99
th meeting all-time between Arkansas Tech and Southern Arkansas in a series that dates back to 1977. Overall, Tech holds a commanding 88-10 lead in the series. Since the two became charter members of the GAC prior to the 2011-12 season, the Golden Suns are 28-2 against Southern Arkansas.

This will be the second game between the Golden Suns and Muleriders this season. The met in Russellville back on December 17. Tech won that initial meeting, 95-72.

Tip-off for Saturday afternoon's game is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the W.T. Watson Center in Magnolia.

The Golden Suns are 13-12 overall on the season and are 10-11 in the GAC and currently tied for fifth place in the conference standings with Southwestern Oklahoma. On Thursday night, the Golden Suns secured their place in the upcoming GAC Tournament with an exciting 67-66 win at home against Henderson State.

With one game left in the regular season, the Golden Suns can climb no higher in the standing than fifth place.

At this point of the season, the Golden Suns average 68.6 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. Dave Wilbers, who is in his 17th season as Tech. During his time at Tech,
Wilbers has amassed a 355-133 overall record. Nine times,
Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a
Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

Southern Arkansas is 13-14 overall this season and are 8-13 in the GAC, placing them in a tie for eighth in the conference standings with one more game to play.
