TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team secured their spot in the upcoming Great American Conference Tournament on Thursday night with a thrilling one-point win over Henderson State. Now, the Golden Suns will be looking to keep themselves in the middle of the standings heading into the tournament with their final game of the regular season coming this Saturday at Southern Arkansas.
 
This will be the 99^th meeting all-time between Arkansas Tech and Southern Arkansas in a series that dates back to 1977. Overall, Tech holds a commanding 88-10 lead in the series. Since the two became charter members of the GAC prior to the 2011-12 season, the Golden Suns are 28-2 against Southern Arkansas.
 
This will be the second game between the Golden Suns and Muleriders this season. The met in Russellville back on December 17. Tech won that initial meeting, 95-72.
 
Tip-off for Saturday afternoon's game is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the W.T. Watson Center in Magnolia.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 13-12 overall on the season and are 10-11 in the GAC and currently tied for fifth place in the conference standings with Southwestern Oklahoma. On Thursday night, the Golden Suns secured their place in the upcoming GAC Tournament with an exciting 67-66 win at home against Henderson State.
 
With one game left in the regular season, the Golden Suns can climb no higher in the standing than fifth place.
 
At this point of the season, the Golden Suns average 68.6 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Golden Suns rank seventh in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 63.5 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are third in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .413 (625-of-1,512) and are limiting their opponents to a .353 mark (529-of-1,500) to rank second.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Golden Suns shoot at a clip of .297 (116-of-391) to rank ninth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .301 (164-of-545) to rank sixth. From the free throw line, the Golden Suns shoot .691 as a team (349-of-505) to rank 10th.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns have two players averaging double figures and are led by Alex Hill and her 12.1 ppg. Behind Hill in scoring is Dana Thompson at 10.2 ppg. Just out of double-figure scoring is Maisa Marcal at 9.4 ppg.
 
Thompson leads the team in rebounding and is averaging 9.4 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Marcal lead the team and is averaging 4.4 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by Marcal at 2.7 steals per game and in blocks by Julie Wagner at 1.1 blocks per game.
 
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 17th season as Tech. During his time at Tech, Wilbers has amassed a 355-133 overall record. Nine times, Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

SCOUTING THE MULERIDERS
Southern Arkansas is 13-14 overall this season and are 8-13 in the GAC, placing them in a tie for eighth in the conference standings with one more game to play.
 
Statistically, the Muleriders average 70.0 ppg and rank fourth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Muleriders rank ninth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 65.0 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Muleriders are fifth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .408 (690-of-1,691) and limit their opponents to a .440 mark (678-of-1,542) to rank 12th.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Muleriders shoot at a clip of .297 (175-of-589) to rank eigth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .295 (135-of-458) to rank fifth. From the free throw line, the Muleriders shoot .641 as a team (336-of-524) to rank 12th.
 
Individually, the Muleriders have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Addy Tremie and her 12.6 ppg. Diamond Morris is next and rounds out double-figure scoring at 12.3 ppg.
 
Jessica Clemons is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 4.9 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Tequaza Chambers leads the team and is averaging 2.2 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Muleriders are led in steals by Chambers at 1.9 steals per game and in blocks by Sihirah Reese at 0.8 blocks per game.
 
The Muleriders are coached by Adam Collins, who is in his sixth season at Southern Arkansas as head coach and his 16th overall. At SAU, Collins has a 62-93 record and carries an overall head coaching record of 222-223.
