Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team opened up the spring portion of their season schedule on Wednesday and were competitive against NCAA Division I opponent, Central Arkansas.
Ultimately, UCA won the dual match 5-2, but all three doubles matches and all six singles matches were highly competitive.
Opening with doubles play, the Golden Suns dropped flight three to UCA 6-2, but narrowly lost in flights one and two, 6-4.
In singles action, the Golden Suns picked up their two points at flights one and two.
Madalena Amil played flight one and defeated UCA's Nanoka Kazama, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (6). Freshman newcomer
Monica Balau slotted in flight two and won her match in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for their second-straight match against a DI opponent as they will hit the road to Jonesboro on Friday, February 16 to take on Arkansas State. First-serve for the match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
