RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team will make the relatively short trip to Arkadelphia this weekend to play a pair of key in-region matches against foes from the state of Texas.

First among those is a Friday afternoon match with Texas A&M-Kingsville. The following day, the Golden Suns are set to take on Angelo State. Both opponents are members of the Lone Star Conference and both matches are slated to take place on the campus of Ouachita Baptist.

The Golden Suns are 0-2 to start the spring season and are coming off a shutout loss on the road at Division I Arkansas State last Friday. The match with A-State was the second-straight against a DI opponent for the Golden Suns to open their spring slate.

Texas A&M-Kingsville enters the Friday match with Tech 3-0 and are currently ranked No. 24 in the latest ITA Division II National Top-25 Poll. Their most-recent match saw the Javelinas knock off Ouachita Baptist 5-2. Prior to that, Kingsville had a big 4-3 win over then nationally-ranked No. 16 Georgia College.

Heading into the weekend, Angelo State is 4-1 overall, but will have played a match on Friday against Henderson State prior to taking on Tech on Saturday. The Rambelles are currently on a two-match winning streak with wins against Central Oklahoma and Harding.

This will be the first-ever match between Tech and Texas A&M-Kingsville while the match with Angelo State will be the second. Last playing in 2022, Angelo State narrowly beat Tech 4-3 at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
