TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team is back in action at home on Thursday as they will take on Arkansas-Monticello. It will be the final game played by Tech prior to the Christmas holiday break.

This will be 175th meeting all-time between Tech and Arkansas-Monticello. In a series that dates back to the 1929, Tech and UAM have played each other multiple times a year consistently as conference rivals. Overall, Tech holds a 112-62 advantage in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the GAC. Tech is coming off a win their last time out as they grinded out a 64-59 win on the road at Southern Arkansas this past Saturday afternoon. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Wonder Boys and was their first conference win of the season.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 69.7 ppg and rank 10th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank fourth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 69.6 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are 11th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .430 (238-of-554) and allow their opponents to shoot at a .449 mark (242-of-539) to rank seventh.

From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .289 (68-of-235) to rank 11th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .353 (77-of-218) to rank seventh. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .699 as a team (153-of-219) to rank seventh.

Kade Shaffer leads the team and is averaging 4.3 assists per game.

The Wonder Boys are coached by
Mark Downey, who is in his fifth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.

In his time at Tech, which is now in its ninth season overall, Downey has amassed a 139-100 record. Overall, Downey is in his 18th season as a head coach and has career record of 305-206.

SCOUTING THE BOLL WEEVILS
Arkansas-Monticello is 3-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The Boll Weevils have lost five straight games. Their last win came back on November 23 against Ecclesia College, 94-30.

Statistically, the Boll Weevils average 59.0 ppg and rank 12
th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Boll Weevils rank second in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 60.7 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Boll Weevils are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .436 (233-of-534) and allow their opponents to post a .397 mark (209-of-526) to rank third.
