TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech women's basketball is back on the road this Saturday afternoon and will do so at Southern Arkansas for a GAC clash.
 
This will be the 100th meeting all-time between Tech and Henderson State. In a series that dates back to 1977, the Golden Suns and Muleriders have played one another at least twice in a season throughout the series as conference rivals. The Golden Suns currently hold an 89-10 record in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 3-4 overall and 1-2 in GAC play. Tech is coming off an 83-70 loss at home to Henderson State.
 
This season, the Golden Suns average 71.1 ppg and rank third in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Golden Suns rank 12th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 70.7 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are fifth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .417 (187-of-448) and are allowing their opponents to shoot at a .364 mark (174-of-478) to rank third.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Golden Suns shoot at a clip of .264 (32-of-121) to rank 11th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .299 (49-of-164) to rank fifth. From the free throw line, the Golden Suns shoot .613 as a team (92-of-150) to rank 12th.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns have two players averaging double figures and are led by Hayleigh Wyrick at 11.3 ppg.  Julie Wagner is next and rounds out double-figure scoring at 11.1 ppg Oliva Jones is not far off from averaging double-figures at 9.7 ppg.
 
Wagner also leads the team in rebounds with 7.4 rpg. In terms of assists, Jones leads the team with 2.6 apg.
 
Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by Jones and Wagner at 1.1 spg each and in blocks by Andie Zylak and Wagner at 1.0 bpg.
 
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 18th season as Tech. During his time at Tech, Wilbers has amassed a 359-137 overall record. Nine times, Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
 
SCOUTING THE MULERIDERS
Southern Arkansas is 6-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Muleriders are coming off a 64-58 win on the road at Ouachita Baptist this past Thursday.
 
Statistically, the Muleriders average 69.2 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Muleriders rank first in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 50.0 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Muleriders are second in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .464 (247-of-532) and are allowing their opponents a .348 mark (166-of-477) to rank first.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Muleriders shoot at a clip of .369 (58-of-157) to rank second in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .285 (47-of-165) to rank third. From the free throw line, the Muleriders shoot .634 as a team (71-of-112) to rank 10th.
 
Individually, the Muleriders have three players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Addy Tremie at 12.7 ppg. Tequaza Chambers is next at 10.8 ppg while Crystal Ortiz and rounds out double-figure scoring at 10.3 ppg.
 
Elena Lijo-Rodriguez is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 7.0 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Marlee Bright leads the team and is averaging 6.4 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Muleriders are led in steals by Bright at 4.2 steals per game and in blocks by Lijo-Rodriguez at 1.9 blocks per game.
 
The Muleriders are coached by Darrick Matthews, who is in his first season at Southern Arkansas and his 11th overall. Overall, Matthews is 186-118.
