FIRST SERVE
The Arkansas Tech volleyball team is set to jump back into their Great American Conference schedule this weekend and will do so with matches on consecutive days on the road.
 
First up, the Golden Suns will take on East Central on Friday, October 8 starting at 6 p.m. The following day, they will be at Southeastern Oklahoma for a 4 p.m. match.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 9-8 overall and 3-2 in GAC play. The Golden Suns got back into the win column their last time out as they made quick work of Lane College at home this past Tuesday, 3-0. As they jump back into conference action, the Golden Suns are looking to get back in the win column in GAC matches as they have dropped their last two.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns are averaging 12.1 kills/set and have a .189 team attack percentage. They have three players with at least 130 kills and are led by Savannah Meyer and her 196 kills. Jordon Clouse has the highest attack percentage on the team among prominent attackers at .339 (76k-174att-17err).
 
The Golden Suns have settled on their primary setter with Emma Kiser pacing the offense. Kiser's assist total now stands at 510. Since taking over as primary setter, Kiser has had 30 or more assists in a match nine times.
 
Defensively the Golden Suns are averaging 14.7 digs/set and 1.9 blocks per set. Jamie Myrick leads the team in digs with 298. Sierra Orton currently leads the team in blocks with 53.0.
 
The head coach of the Golden Suns is Kera Coleman. She is in her seventh year as head coach of her alma mater and eighth overall. In her time at Tech, Coleman is 82-94. Overall, she's 101-106.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
EAST CENTRAL
The Tigers are 10-7 overall and 4-1 in the GAC. They are coming off a loss on the road in a non-conference match at Texas Woman's this past Tuesday. Prior to that, the Tigers had won five-straight matches.
 
Offensively, the Tigers are averaging 12.2 kills/set and have a .180 team attack percentage. They have four players with at least 100 kills and are led by Odalys Gonzales and her 215 kills. Ashleigh Miller has the highest attack percentage on the team among prominent attackers at .259 (108k-259att-41err).
 
The Tigers have used a primary setter in Julia Kabala. Kabala has accounted for 594 of the team's 706 assists. She has registered 30 or more assists 10 times this season.
 
Defensively the Tigers are averaging 16.5 digs/set and 1.7 blocks per set. Emma Strickland leads the team in digs with 212. Four different Tigers have registered at least 25 blocks thus far with Ashleigh Miller leading the way with 45.0 blocks.
 
The head coach of the Tigers is Danielle Essix. She is in her second year as the head coach at her alma mater and has a current career record of 24-22.
 
SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA
The Savage Storm are 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the GAC. Southeastern will have played a match the night prior to taking on the Golden Suns as they will host Harding, but heading into the weekend, the Savage Storm are coming off a win their last time out as they beat Austin College on the road this past Wednesday.
 
Offensively, the Savage Storm are averaging 12.2 kills/set and have a .199 team attack percentage. They have three players with at least 100 kills and are led by D'Nari Mills and her 233 kills. Ruthie Forson has the highest attack percentage on the team among prominent attackers at .293 (137k-328att-41err).
 
The Savage Storm have used a primary setter in Ruthie Forson. Forson has accounted for 499 of the team's 646 assists. She has registered 30 or more assists 11 times this season.
 
Defensively the Savage Storm are averaging 17.6 digs/set and 1.4 blocks per set. Patience Lewis leads the team in digs with 308. Three different Savage Storm have registered at least 20 blocks thus far with Michera Moffett leading the way with 40.0 blocks.
 
The head coach of the Savage Storm is Nicole Solum-Mitchell. She is in her sixth year as the head coach at Southeastern and has a current career record of 35-104.
