TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team opens the final month of the regular season on the road and will do so first at Southeastern Oklahoma this Thursday night.

This will be the 32nd meeting all-time between Arkansas Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma in a series that dates back to the 1979-80 season. Overall, Tech holds an 18-13 lead in the series. Since the two became conference foes within the GAC prior to the 2011-12 season, the Golden Suns are 16-11 against Southeastern Oklahoma.

This will be the second game between the Golden Suns and Savage Storm this season. The met in Russellville back in early January. Tech won that initial meeting, 74-57.

Tip-off for Thursday evening's game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside Bloomer-Sullivan Arena in Durant.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are 9-7 overall on the season and are 6-6 in the GAC. The Golden Suns are coming off a monster blowout win at home against Arkansas-Monticello this past Saturday as they beat the Savage Storm, 94-42.

The 52-point margin of victory is by far the largest spread for the Golden Suns this season. It was also the first time that Tech has beaten a team by 50 or more points since the 2019-20 season when the Golden Suns beat Crowley's Ridge by 78 points, 114-36.

At this point of the season, the Golden Suns average 70.6 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Golden Suns rank fifth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 61.5 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are third in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .426 (417-of-978) and are limiting their opponents to a .342 mark (327-of-956) to rank first.

From beyond-the-arc, the Golden Suns shoot at a clip of .315 (76-of-241) to rank seventh in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .303 (106-of-350) to rank sixth. From the free throw line, the Golden Suns shoot .674 as a team (219-of-325) to rank 11th.

Individually, the Golden Suns have two players averaging double figures and three more that are at least at 7.0 ppg.
Alex Hill currently leads the team in scoring at 12.1 ppg. Behind
Hill in scoring and rounding out double-figure scoring is
Maisa Marcal at 10.9 ppg.
Dana Thompson,
Hayleigh Wyrick, and
Julie Wagner are all averaging at least 7.0 ppg at 9.9, 8.6 and 7.1 ppg, respectively.

Thompson leads the team in rebounding and is averaging 8.6 rebounds per game. In terms of assists,
Hill lead the team and are averaging 2.8 assists per game each.

Defensively, the Golden Suns are led in steals by
Hill at 1.9 steals per game and in blocks by
Thompson at 1.0 blocks per game.

The Golden Suns are coached by
Dave Wilbers, who is in his 17th season as Tech. During his time at Tech,
Wilbers has amassed a 351-128 overall record. Nine times,
Wilbers has won 20 or more games at Tech and twice has won 30 or more. In terms of national rankings, a
Wilbers-led team has been nationally-ranked at any point in a season 10 times. Among those, he has guided the Golden Suns to the top of the rankings on a pair of occasions during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
Southeastern Oklahoma is 6-12 overall this season and are 2-10 in the GAC. The Savage Storm are coming off a valiant effort in a road loss at No. 4-ranked Southern Nazarene this past Saturday. Southeastern would lose to SNU by a score of 68-52. That loss snapped what was a modest two-game winning streak for the Savage Storm.

Statistically, the Savage Storm average 59.8 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Savage Storm rank 10th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 64.8 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Savage Storm are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .365 (353-of-967) and limit their opponents to a .387 mark (417-of-1,078) to rank sixth.
