FIRST SERVE
With the opening weekend of play in the rearview, the Arkansas Tech volleyball team has shifted their focus to another weekend of early-season action as they are set to take part in the Lubbock Christian Chap Classic.
 
At the classic, the Golden Suns will a trifecta of matches against in-region opponents with two on Friday and one on Saturday.
 
Friday's matches will see the Golden Suns take on Minot State of the NSIC and host Lubbock Christian of the LSC. The match with Minot will start at 11 a.m. Later in the afternoon on Friday, the Golden Suns will play Lubbock Christian. That match is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
 
Saturday, the Golden Suns will take on Oklahoma Christian of the LSC at 11 a.m. to conclude their weekend of matches.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns are off to an 0-4 start to their season after opening up last weekend at the Illinois-Springfield Tournament, hosted by Illinois-Springfield. At that invitational, Tech played Texas A&M-International, Missouri Western, host Illinois-Springfield and McKendree.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns are averaging 9.1 kills/set and have a .095 team attack percentage. They have two players with at least 20 kills and are led by Kaitlyn Neal and her 30 kills. Jordan Clouse has the highest attack percentage on the team at .259 (10k-27att-3err).
 
The Golden Suns' primary setter has been Gracie Palmer. Of the 115 teams assists registered thus far, Palmer has accounted for 80.
 
Defensively the Golden Suns are averaging 11.4 digs/set and 0.8 blocks per set. Jamie Myrick leads the team in digs with 49. Lauren Grier currently leads the team in blocks with 5.0.
 
The head coach of the Golden Suns is Kera Coleman. She is in her sixth year as head coach of her alma mater and seventh overall. In her time at Tech, Coleman is 70-65. Overall, she's 89-77.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Minot State
The Beavers are off to an 0-4 start to their season after opening up last weekend at the Yellowjacket Volleyball Invitational, hosted by Montana State-Billings. At that invitational, Minot played Southeastern Oklahoma, MSU-Billings, Black Hills State and this weekend's host, Lubbock Christian. The Beavers were competitive throughout the weekend and won at least one set in three of the four matches. The only match they were swept in was against Lubbock Christian in the finale.
 
Offensively, the Beavers are averaging 9.8 kills/set and have a .078 team attack percentage. They have two players with at least 30 kills and are led by Maggie Machado and her 37 kills. Taylor Wyatt has the highest attack percentage on the team at .291 (24k-55att-8err).
 
The Beavers have split time at the setter position and have two with at least 50 assists. Jaina Macaulay currently leads the team with 67 assists.
 
Defensively the Beavers are averaging 14.5 digs/set and 1.6 blocks per set. Kendal Braun leads the team in digs with 72. A pair of Beavers have registered double-digit blocks thus far with Bailee Brommenschenkel leading the way with 13.0 blocks.
 
The head coach of the Beavers is Alex Lehocky. She is in her second year as head coach. In her first season, Lehocky's Beavers went 1-26 overall.

Lubbock Christian
The Chaps are off to an unblemished 4-0 start to their season after opening up last weekend at the Yellowjacket Volleyball Invitational, hosted by Montana State-Billings. At that invitational, Lubbock Christian played Black Hills State, University of Mary, Minot State and host Montana State-Billings. The Chaps dropped just three sets over the weekend and notched a pair of sweeps.
 
Offensively, the Chaps are averaging 14.3 kills/set and have a .211 team attack percentage. They have four players with at least 30 kills and are led by Kiana Fallaha and her 62 kills. Kalli Dalland has the highest attack percentage on the team at .333 (33k-69att-10err).
 
The Chaps' primary setter has been Kayton Genenbacker. Of the 189 teams assists registered thus far, Genenbacker has accounted for 168.
 
Defensively the Chaps are averaging 19.2 digs/set and 1.6 blocks per set. Chloe Menard leads the team in digs with 72. A pair of Chaps have registered double-digit blocks thus far with Dalland leading the way with 16.0 blocks.
 
The head coach of the Chaps is Keith Giboney. He is in his third year as head coach of his alma mater and in his 19th year overall. In his time at LCU, Giboney has a 35-24 record. Overall, his career coaching record is 419-195.

Oklahoma Christian
The Eagles are off to a 2-2 start to their season after opening up last weekend at the Westminster Classic, hosted by Westminster College. At that classic, Oklahoma Christian played No. 16-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, Saint Martin's, host Westminster and Purdue Northwest. The Eagles lost their two matched of the weekend, but bounced back the following day and notched wins over Westminster College, and Purdue Northwest.
 
Offensively, the Eagles are averaging 11.4 kills/set and have a .164 team attack percentage. They have five players with at least 20 kills and are led by Giorgia Turri and her 52 kills. Camryn McGough has the highest attack percentage on the team at .354 (28k-48att-11err).
 
The Eagles have split time at the setter position and have two with at least 50 assists. Lauren McClure currently leads the team with 85 assists.
 
Defensively the Eagles are averaging 13.7 digs/set and 2.0 blocks per set. Brylie Berryman leads the team in digs with 50. A pair of Eagles have registered double-digit blocks thus far with Megan Rek leading the way with 18.0 blocks.
 
The head coach of the Eagles is Jason Skoch. He is in his third year as head coach at OC and is in his 18th year overall. In his time at OC, Skoch has a 29-34 record. Overall, his career coaching record is 466-155.
