The scrimmage is free to the public and will serve as the best chance to see this year's Wonder Boys football team in action in their home venue prior to their home-opener on Saturday, September 9.
The 2023 Wonder Boys are once more led by 2007 ATU alum,
Kyle Shipp, who enters into his fifth year as head coach at Tech and fourth season leading his alma mater in competition. In each of the previous three seasons played under Shipp, the Wonder Boys have improved their winning total and are poised for continual improvement this season.
In that effort, Shipp returns 45 players from last year that saw game action and 20 players that were in the program last year but redshirted. In addition to the returners, Shipp welcomes in a bevy of talented newcomers.
On the sidelines, Shipp has revamped his coaching staff and added the likes of Dom Mirocke, Kendrick Van Ackeren, Shawn Schnabel, Aaron Archie and Adam Dulka to his staff. Mirocke and Van Ackeren are the new coordinators for the team with Mirocke handling the offense and Van Ackeren leading the defense. Schnabel and Dulka bolster the offensive coaching staff at the offensive line and tight ends positions while Archie is heading the linebackers.
