RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech head men's golf coach Joey Baldwin has announced the signing of Roby Cooper to his 2023-24 Wonder Boys team, further bolstering his first full recruiting class for the program.
 
A native of Melbourne, Ark., Cooper makes his way to Tech after spending last year at GAC-rival Harding as a true freshman.
 
"I am very excited to welcome Roby to our Wonder Boys Family. I believe Roby has the ability to come in and help us right away," noted Baldwin. "Roby has the ability to go low, which is what our team needs. In just his first year, he recorded the second-lowest score, 65, in program history at Harding. I am excited to watch him progress in the classroom and on the golf course!"
 
In his lone season at Harding, Cooper played in four tournaments and had a scoring average of 75.25 across 12 rounds. Of those 12 rounds, three were shot under par with two of those seeing scores in the 60s.
 
His season-low round of 65 came in his very first round of collegiate golf at the GAC Preview this past fall. Cooper capped that tournament with a four-under (68) to close at six-under overall and finish eighth individually.
 
Cooper joins a 2023-24 recruiting class that features incoming freshmen Drew Griffiths (Van Buren, Ark.), Luke Hanson (Maumelle, Ark.), JP McCarron (Conway, Ark.) and Jacob Peetom (Rogers, Ark.)
