RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech softball team will close out their regular season this weekend on the road in Shawnee, Okla. against Oklahoma Baptist. The series is set to start tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. at the Bison Softball Park. Then, the series will wrap up on Saturday with doubleheader action that is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch that afternoon in Shawnee.Â
Tech Tidbits
The Golden Suns enter this weekends Great American Conference series with a 28-20 overall record and a 17-12 record against GAC opponents.Â
Offensively, the Golden Suns are hitting .262 at the plate this season as a team (321-for-1227) with 194 runs scored, 51 doubles, 12 triples and 21 total homeruns. Entering the weekend conference series, the Golden Suns own two players hitting .300 or better on the year with at least 120 at-bats. Leading the Golden Suns at the plate is
Jessica Williams who owns a team best .315 batting average (39-for-124). Following behind Williams is
Makenzie Goins who is hitting .309 on the year (43-for-139).
In terms of power numbers, the Golden Suns boast five total players who have notched at least one total homerun on the 2023 season so far. Leading the charge in homeruns this season for the Golden Suns isÂ
Makenzie Addis with nine long bombs. Behind Addis in total homeruns on the season is Goins with five, whileÂ
Brooke Prewitt and Williams have three homers each. Rounding out the list of homerun hitters for Tech isÂ
Shelby Chavers who has hit one. Leading the team in RBI's is Addis with 39. Goins and Prewitt are next with 18, while Williams has 17 RBI's on the year.Â
In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 2.62 and have struckout 189 hitters in 315.2 total innings pitched.
Four total pitchers have made at least once appearance in the circle so far this season for Arkansas Tech.Â
Bailey Buffington leads the team in starts with 28, whileÂ
Bradi Basler has 18 starts on the year.Â
Buffington is 15-9 in the circle this year with a team best 1.79 ERA. She has pitched 15 complete games so far this year and has ten total shutouts. Seven of the shutouts were by herself, while three have been through a combined effort. The senior has recorded a team-high 86 strikeouts in 148.1 innings of work and currently holds opposing batters to a .251 average at the plate.
Basler is 9-8 in the circle this season with a 3.73 ERA. She has pitched nine complete games with three shutouts and has 68 strikeouts in 101.1 innings of work.Â

Kaila Cartwright leads the Golden Suns with 23 total appearances, that includes one start, andÂ
Lexy Taylor has made five total appearances with one start.Â
Cartwright was apart of all three combined shutout efforts alongside Buffington. The senior has struckout 31 total batters in 56.0 total innings pitched and has a 2.50 ERA on the season thus far as well as one save on the year.
Taylor has posted a 4.20 ERA so far this season and has struckout four opposing hitters in 10.0 innings of work.Â
Scouting the Bison
Entering this weekends GAC series, the Bison own a 40-9 overall record and currently have a 25-5 record against GAC opponents.
OKBU has picked up GAC series wins against Northwestern Oklahoma, Southern Nazarene, Arkansas-Monticello, Southern Arkansas, East Central, Southwestern Oklahoma, Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State. Of those GAC series wins, all have resulted in sweeps except for the 2-1 series win on the road at Southern Arkansas.Â
Statistically this season, the Bison are hitting .310 overall at the plate as a team (412-for-1331) with 254 runs scored, 56 doubles, seven triples and 33 homeruns. Coming into the weekend, the Bison have five players averaging .315 or better at the plate on at least 115 at-bats. Leading the hitters is
Emily Adler with a .423 batting average (63-for-149). Behind Adler is

Adi Reese leads the team in homeruns with eight on the season. Following Reese is

Sammie Greene each with six homer in the year. Rounding out the list of homerun hitters for the Bison is Gwyn Miller with four bombs on the season.  In terms of RBI's, Reese also leads the Bison with 37, while
 Adler has 34 RBI's and Max has 33.Â
In the circle, the Bison have a team ERA of 1.51 and have 431 strikeouts in 337.1 total innings.Â
Five total pitchers have made at least one appearance in the circle this season for Southeastern.
Kayleigh Jones leads the team in starts with 28, while
Aspen Younce has started 15 games in the circle. Jones is 28-5 on the year with a 0.71 ERA and has a GAC leading 287 strikeouts in 197.0 innings pitched. Younce is 9-2 with a 2.52 ERA and has recorded 92 strikeouts in 83.1 innings.
