RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Coming off their 2-1 weekend Great American Conference series win over Southwestern Oklahoma State, the Golden Suns now get set to travel to Lawton, Okla. to take on Cameron University in a mid-week nonconference doubleheader battle. 

The doubleheader will take place at McMahon Field and Athletics Center in Lawton tomorrow afternoon. First pitch for tomorrow afternoon's nonconference doubleheader action is set for noon.
Tech Tidbits
The Golden Suns enter this weeks nonconference doubleheader against Cameron with a 21-12 overall record and an 11-5 record against Great American Conference opponents. The team is coming off a weekend GAC series win against Southwestern Oklahoma State. 

Last season, the Golden Suns played Cameron during the preseason and won a tense 4-1 nine inning game against the Aggies during the Edmond Regional Festival. 

Offensively, the Golden Suns are hitting .275 at the plate this season as a team (234-for-852) with 148 runs scored, 40 doubles, 10 triples and 16 total homeruns. Entering the mid-week doubleheader, the Golden Suns own two players hitting .300 or better on the year with at least 80 at-bats. Leading the Golden Suns at the plate is Makenzie Goins who owns the team best .366 batting average (37-for-101). Following right behind Goins is Jessica Williams who is averaging .338 at the plate this season (27-for-80).

In terms of power numbers, the Golden Suns boast five total players who have notched at least one total homerun on the 2023 season so far. Leading the charge in homeruns this season for the Golden Suns is Makenzie Addis with seven long bombs. Behind Addis in total homeruns on the season is both Goins and Brooke Prewitt with three homers each. Rounding out the list of homerun hitters for Tech is Williams with two bombs on the year, while Shelby Chavers has hit one. Leading the team in RBI's is Addis with 27. Prewitt is next with 15 total RBI's, while Williams has 14 and Goins has 13. 

In the circle, the Golden Suns have a team ERA of 2.62 and have struckout 132 hitters in 216.2 total innings pitched.

Four total pitchers have made at least once appearance in the circle so far this season for Arkansas Tech. Bailey Buffington leads the team in starts with 19, while Bradi Basler has 12 starts on the year. 

Buffington is 13-5 in the circle this year with a team best 1.48 ERA. She has pitched 12 complete games so far this year and has seven total shutouts. Five of the shutouts were by herself, while two have been through a combined effort. The senior has recorded a team-high 66 strikeouts in 104.1 innings of work and currently holds opposing batters to a .242 average at the plate.

Basler is 6-5 in the circle this season with a 3.72 ERA. She has pitched six complete games with one shutout and has 47 strikeouts in 67.2 innings of work. 

In relief, Kaila Cartwright leads the Golden Suns with 14 total appearances, that includes one start, and Lexy Taylor has made five total appearances with one start. 

Cartwright was apart of both combined shutout efforts alongside Buffington and also helped to throw a combined no hitter in one of those games as well. The senior has struckout 15 total batters in 34.2 total innings pitched and has a 3.43 ERA on the season thus far as well as one save on the year.

Taylor has posted a 4.20 ERA so far this season and has struckout four opposing hitters in 10.0 innings of work. 

Scouting the Aggies
Entering this weeks nonconference mid-week doubleheader, Cameron University holds a 20-13 overall record with a 17-10 record in Lone Star Conference play. In their last outing, they swept Western New Mexico 3-0 at home.

Statistically this season, the Aggies are hitting .280 overall at the plate as a team (228-for-815) with 158 runs scored, 46 doubles, four triples and 26 homeruns. Coming into the week, the Aggies have four players averaging .300 or better at the plate on at least 75 at-bats. Leading the hitters is Josie Swafford with a .338 batting average (26-for-77). Behind Swafford is Kaiden Boren with a .337 average at the plate this season (32-for-95). 

In terms of power hitters, Boren leads the team in homeruns with seven on the season. Behind Wadley is Taylor Rowley who has hit six homers. Closing out the list of top homerun hitters for Cameron is Khmari Edwards and Ashlynn Bruce with three bombs each on the year. In terms of RBI's, Rowley leads the Aggies with 24, while Boren follows behind with 19 RBI's. 

In the circle, the Aggies have a team ERA of 3.24 and have 199 strikeouts in 203.0 total innings. 

Four total pitchers have made at least one appearance in the circle this season for Cameron. Robyn Bales leads the team in starts with 13, while Swafford has started 10 games in the circle. Bales is 8-5 on the year with a 3.35 ERA and has 58 strikeouts in 71.0 innings pitched. She has also thrown eight complete games and four shutouts for the Aggies. Swafford is 7-7 with a 3.18 ERA and has recorded a team-high 81 strikeouts in 70.1 innings. In terms of complete games, Swafford has thrown six alongside four shutouts. Opposing batters are hitting .193 at the plate when Swafford is in the circle.

In relief, Jocelyn Bright leads the Aggies with 16 total appearances and nine starts. Bright is 4-1 on the year with a team-best 3.06 ERA and has struckout 48 hitters in 50.1 total innings.
