RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech softball team drops their final game of the weekend conference series against Southwestern Oklahoma State 1-6. Following the game, the Golden Suns are 21-12 overall with an 11-5 record in GAC play.
The first scoring of the afternoon would come from Southwestern Oklahoma in the top of the second inning as a double to left center field as well as a single to right center field would plate two runs for the Bulldogs and give them a 2-0 advantage over the Golden Suns.
In the bottom of the frame, the Golden Suns would strike back and get their opportunity to get on the scoreboard. The inning would begin with a leadoff lineout to right field, but in the next at-bat by
Jessica Williams, she would be walked which would bring up
Sydney Keaton to the plate.
Keaton went bust a single to right field to reach base and push ahead Williams to second base with
Kacie Gibbins headed to the plate. Gibbins would follow Keaton's effort with a single of her own to left field that would allow her to reach first and load the bases advancing Williams to third and Keaton to second on her one out single.
Williams would scored off a sacrifice flyout to right field from
Kassie Mayberry to give the Golden Suns their lone run of the inning and game and make it a 2-1 game after two full innings of action played out.
Following the bottom of the second, the Golden Suns would not be able to string any consistent offense together to score another run to try and take the lead over the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs would plate four more runs in the game scoring two in the top of the fifth and their final two in the top of the sixth inning of play, ultimately leading to the 6-1 win for SWOSU in the final game of the series.
