RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team will spend their spring break week on the west coast where they will play four matches against a variety of teams including a pair of Division II opponents, a Division I foe and a community college.
The Golden Suns enter the week 7-3 overall and are slated to play their first match on Tuesday, March 21 against College of the Desert. The match will be played in Palm Desert, Calif. starting at 3:30 p.m. CDT. College of the Desert is a community college that participates in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). The Roadrunners are off to a 6-1 start to their season and are 5-0 in conference play.
A day later, the Golden Suns will play Division I Dartmouth College at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. First-serve for that match is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CDT. The Big Green have a match against San Diego State prior to playing Tech but are 3-8 overall heading into the match with SDSU.
On Thursday, the Golden Suns face a tough DII test against Azusa Pacific. The Cougars are off to a 12-4 start and are ranked No. 13 as a team in the most-recent ITA National Rankings. In those same rankings, the Cougars have the No. 4-ranked singles player in Eleonora Liga as well as the No. 4-ranked doubles team with Liga and Madison Kane comprising that ranked duo.
That match is scheduled to take place at Azusa Pacific and will have a first-serve time of 4:30 p.m. CDT.
Wrapping up their trip on the west coast, the Golden Suns will take on Concordia (Calif.) on Friday afternoon. The Golden Eagles are off to an 8-1 start to this point and will play a pair of matches prior to their match with Tech on Friday. That match is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. CDT.
