Golden Suns look to play spoiler on the road at rival Harding

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech volleyball team remains on the road on Thursday night and will be looking to play the role of spoiler against rival Harding.
 
Heading into this week of action, the Bisons were leading the Great American Conference standings by a match at 10-2, but a sweep defeat on the road this past Tuesday has Harding now in a three-way tie for first-place in the standings with Southwestern Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist.
 
First-serve against Harding is scheduled for 6 p.m. from inside the Rhodes-Reeves Fieldhouse in Searcy.
 
This will be the second regular season meeting of the year between the Golden Suns and Bisons. Harding would come away with a win in the initial meeting, beating Tech 3-1 back on September 28 in Russellville.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enters Thursday night's GAC match at Harding 3-22 overall and 2-11 in the GAC. They are coming of a tough 3-2 loss on the road at Henderson State this past Tuesday.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns are averaging 10.8 kills/set and have a .138 team attack percentage. They have four players with at least 100 kills and are led by Kaitlyn Neal and her 204 kills. Jordan Clouse has the highest attack percentage on the team at .244 (72-kills, 213-attempts, 20-errors).
 
The Golden Suns' primary setter has been Gracie Palmer. Of the team's 904 assists registered thus far, Palmer has accounted for 479. True freshman Kenzie Garrett has also seen some consistent time as of late in the setter role and has totaled 257 assists this season.
 
Defensively the Golden Suns are averaging 13.8 digs/set and 1.4 blocks per set. Jamie Myrick leads the team in digs with 364. Lauren Grier currently leads the team in blocks with 64.0.
 
The head coach of the Golden Suns is Kera Coleman. She is in her sixth year as head coach of her alma mater and seventh overall. In her time at Tech, Coleman is 73-83. Overall, she's 92-95­.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Harding
Harding enters Thursday night's conference match against Tech with a 15-10 overall record and a 10-3 mark in the GAC. The Bisons are coming off a loss their last time out as they were swept on the road at Ouachita Baptist this past Tuesday night.
 
Offensively, the Bisons are averaging 12.5 kills/set and have a .184 team attack percentage. They have five players with at least 100 kills and are led by Skyler McKinnon and her 271 kills. McKinnon also has the highest attack percentage among prominent attackers on the team at .260 (271-kills, 677-attacks, 95-errors).
 
The Bisons' primary setter has been Olivia Wiedower. Of the team's 1,057 assists registered thus far, Wiedower has accounted for 591. Behind Wiedower in assists is Sarah Morehead with 235.
 
Defensively the Bisons are averaging 17.7 digs/set and 1.9 blocks per set. Emma Winiger leads the team in digs with 423. At the net, Libby Hinton leads the team with 74.0 blocks.
 
The head coach of the Bisons is Meredith Fear. She is in his 12th year as head coach at her alma mater and her 14th overall. In her time at Harding, Fear has a 259-94 record. Overall, her career coaching record is 295-126.
