FIRST SERVE
A little more than a week since their last match this past Thursday, the Arkansas Tech volleyball team remains at home this weekend and will host a pair of GAC matches against Southern Nazarene on Friday night and Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday afternoon.
 
First-serve against Southern Nazarene is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday. The following day against Oklahoma Baptist will have a 2 p.m. start time.
 
Last season, the Golden Suns faced the Crimson Storm and Bison once in the regular season, playing both matches on the road. Tech would drop both matches, 3-2 to SNU and 3-0 to OKB.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter this weekend's matches with Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist 1-13 overall and 1-4 in the Great American Conference. Most-recently, the Golden Suns fought extremely hard against Harding, who was unbeaten in conference play at the time, but ultimately fell to the Bisons in four sets.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns are averaging 11.0 kills/set and have a .145 team attack percentage. They have four players with at least 90 kills and are led by Kaitlyn Neal and her 108 kills. Jordan Clouse has the highest attack percentage on the team at .259 (41-kills, 108-attempts, 13-errors).
 
The Golden Suns' primary setter has been Gracie Palmer. Of the 511 teams assists registered thus far, Palmer has accounted for 272.
 
Defensively the Golden Suns are averaging 13.4 digs/set and 1.5 blocks per set. Jamie Myrick leads the team in digs with 185. Lauren Grier currently leads the team in blocks with 43.0.
 
The head coach of the Golden Suns is Kera Coleman. She is in her sixth year as head coach of her alma mater and seventh overall. In her time at Tech, Coleman is 71-74. Overall, she's 90-86.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Southern Nazarene
Southern Nazarene comes into Friday night's match with Tech 10-6 overall and 2-3 in the GAC. The Crimson Storm have lost their last two matches against Oklahoma Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma. Both were four-set losses.
 
Offensively, the Crimson Storm are averaging 12.1 kills/set and have a .201 team attack percentage. They have four players with at least 100 kills and are led by Sunny Batschelett and her 209 kills. Batschelett also has the highest attack percentage among prominent attackers on the team at .294 (209-kills, 504-attacks, 61-errors).
 
The Crimson Storm's primary setter has been Kaley Brubaker. Of the 705 teams assists registered thus far, Brubaker has accounted for 561.
 
Defensively the Crimson Storm are averaging 17.0 digs/set and 1.9 blocks per set. Madeline Lynch leads the team in digs with 289. At the net, Whitney Bowie leads the team with 54.0 blocks.

Oklahoma Baptist
Oklahoma Baptist comes into this weekend's matches 10-6 overall and 4-1 in the GAC. Prior to playing Tech on Saturday afternoon, The Bison will have played Harding on the road. Leading into the weekend, the Bison have won four-straight, all coming in conference play. Two of those wins were sweeps with the other two needing four and five sets, respectively.
 
Offensively, the Bison are averaging 13.2 kills/set and have a .236 team attack percentage. They have five players with at least 100 kills and are led by Jill Leslie and her 139 kills. Leslie also has the highest attack percentage among prominent attackers on the team at .355 (139-kills, 304-attacks, 31-errors).
 
The Bison have split time at setter between Rylee Martin and Emily Boyer. The two have combined for 583 of the team's 711 assists. Martin has the most with 342 while Boyer has totaled 241.
 
Defensively the Bison are averaging 15.7 digs/set and 2.2 blocks per set. Maci Langford leads the team in digs with 258. At the net, Leslie Hill leads the team with 51.0 blocks.
 
The head coach of the Bison is Anna Howle. She is in his 16th year as head coach at Oklahoma Baptist. In her time at OKB, Howle has a 380-159 record.
