WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech volleyball team opened their lone trip to Oklahoma on Thursday night at Southwestern Oklahoma in Weatherford. The Golden Suns would lose to the Bulldogs, 3-0.
In the opening set of the match, the Golden Suns fell behind early and were hampered by attack errors throughout. They were able to improve in that regard in the second set, but a near flawless offensive attack by SWOSU kept the Bulldogs in front throughout and helped carry them to the set victory.
Set three saw the Golden Suns jump out to an early lead, but a 7-1 run by SWOSU flipped the lead in favor of the Bulldogs. Tech was able to bounce back and tied the score at 10-all, but a second big run was turned in by SWOSU giving them a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Kaitlyn Neal and
Savannah Meyer led the team in kills with six each.
Kenzie Garrett paced the team in assists with 12.
Jamie Myrick fell one dig shy of the 20 mark.
The Golden Suns will now have a quick turnaround and are set to play at Northwestern Oklahoma on Friday afternoon. First-serve against the Rangers is scheduled for 4 p.m.
