RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech volleyball team will close out their three game Great American Conference road trip tomorrow evening as they face Arkansas-Monticello. The Golden Suns will look to get back on track and earn the road win against the Cotton Blossoms.
Last season, Arkansas-Monticello went 9-20 overall and had a 3-13 record against conference teams. This season, the Cotton Blossoms stand at the No. 4 spot in the conference with a 6-8 overall record and a 2-1 record against GAC opponents. Leading the offense for Arkansas-Monticello is Holiday Ellis with 118 total kills on a 2.36 kill per set average. Just behind Ellis is Jasmine Welton with 115 total kills on the year, while averaging 2.35 kills per set. Pacing the offense for the Cotton Blossoms is Mia Smalls with 235 assists on the season. Kalin Duncan has also contributed as well with 222 assists. Welton leads the team in aces with 17, while Alyssa Smith follows with 13.
On defense, Stasha Adams leads with a 3.64 dig per set average on 182 total digs. Ellis has also added to the defense with 134 digs. In front of the net, Riley Krenek leads with 31 total blocks on the year, while Abrielle Jordan has collected 16 total blocks for the Cotton Blossoms.
Moving to the Golden Suns,
Maddi Siedenburg leads the offensive attack with 98 total kills, on a 2.72 kills per set average. Following Siedenburg is
Lydia Hale with a 2.02 kills per set average, while racking up 83 total kills on the season thus far.
Brianna Merkel and
Heather Thomas have also contributed on the attack with 76 and 75 kills each, respectively. Pacing the offense is Merkel with 221 assists, while averaging 5.53 assists per set.
Gracie Palmer averages 2.69 assists per set and has set set up 132 total assists. In terms of service aces,
Jamie Myrick leads the team with 18, while Palmer and
Megan Solberg follow with 16 each.
Anchoring the Golden Suns on defense is Solberg with 216 digs on the year and is averaging 4.32 digs per set. Merkel has also added plenty of help on defense with 118 total digs on a 2.95 dig per set average. Holding down the front of the net for the Golden Suns is Thomas with six solo blocks and 34 assisted blocks and is averaging 0.80 blocks per set.
